Interesting article in the current issue. Did NW really fly DC-10's into YWG? http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/eek.gif

Apparently a new terminal is on its way as well - look forward to ever climbing AIFs.

Thanks for the info Altaflyer.

There are plans to build a new terminal. The waa.ca site is presently down. I believe it has a hyperlink explaining the rationale for building a new terminal. I seem to remember that it was more cost effective to build than to renovate and expand.

http://www.waa.ca/terminal_renewal_planning.htm

More info available under heading "Terminal Renewal"

Edited because I found a way to enter the site through a back door!

I remember Northwest had direct flights to Florida on DC-10's during the mid 1980's. In December 1984 I took this flight. It would leave YWG early in the AM and stop at MSP, TPA and onwards to FLL. There was also a return flight that followed the same route and arrived in YWG late in the evening. The DC-10 would overnight in YWG.

In later years, or outside of the peak winter vacation season, the YWG-MSP leg of the flight was downgraded to a 727, with an aircraft change back to a DC-10 in MSP on the same flight number.

(edited to include recollection of 727 service)
