MilesBuzz! - Which airlines offer 'LifeTime Elite' status

I know that some airlines offer 'LifeTime Elite Status' for meeting certain criteria (for example, on AA - earning 1 million miles from any source, or on UA - earning 1 million miles from flying)..
Question: Does anybody have a list or a matrix of this with all of the airlines and their offerings?
(I personally fly CO a lot, and I know that they used to have an Infinite Elite program, but no longer offer it.)

Delta offers lifetime silver elite for 1 million milers. I believe (until year xxxx) that used to include all miles, but now only includes base miles. Base miles on Delta are flight miles on DL, DL connection, AF and a very few special promotions.

It included all miles (bonus, partner, etc) up until January 1, 1997 I believe ... I remember because that changed a very short time after I started flying DL, which was in October of 1996.

TWA also has a lifetime program. I am not sure whether it is the lifetime of the member or of the airline.

United offers Lifetime Premier Executive status (second from their highest 1K level) to those who travel 1,000,000 actual United flight miles. Bonus, Allicance, and other promotions where bonus miles might count towards annual status, do not apply.
The main benefits of this special Premier Executive level is Lifetime 100% bonus miles, no expiry date on miles in your account (even if you don't have any activity for 3 years), and a nifty little card (http://members.aol.com/premex/uploads/united/1k2card.gif) that you can show off to your friends. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

Once you reach silver on Virgin, you stay for life according to the new 2000 rules.

Now if somebody could tell me that Northwest is on this list, it would make may day... to say nothing of my retirement.
Tim - doesn't one roundtrip Transatlantic flight in Upper Class get you silver? If so, that sounds like an amazing deal. What perks do you get for silver on VS?
Don't forget that's Dicks airline James!

Add to my "things to do before I"m dust:"
Cruise the Amazon
Go to Israel
See a lion relatively close in Africa
Get married
Throw back yards of beer with newself
Smoke a Cubano cigar in havana
Become a lifetime million miler with United
I'm more than a quarter of the way on the last dream.
I think this is all obtainable.

James, You are right, 1 upper class return or 3 economy returns gets you Silver. As to the benefits, you get Premium check-in, this to me is very useful as I'm often in economy and hence can save upto 1/2 hr by not queuing, one call phone number (does'nt seam much different from basic level), express reward with no fee, priority wait list. I've also been upgraded a few times whilst silver, but can't say that this was because of the card.

I have to give my congrats to anyone who qualifies for any of the million miler levels that require all miles to be flight miles! That is truly a difficult task. Equal to 10 years of 100K miles or 20 at only 50K/year. Requires real loyalty to a single airline.
I have concluded that it is not in the cards for me. I average around 75K/year (although last year I did twice that) and have only about 200K lifetime miles on UA and less than 75K on DL. I therefore have decided to throw my business to AA where I have a good chance of reaching the million mile level (all miles). With over 400K already, and most all of my non-flight miles going to AA if possible, I should be there in 5 years.

I think we would switch to AA also except it does not fly to many places west of Dallas from SFO/SJC. Like SLC, PHX, Albuquerque.
Won a t-shirt for spelling the last one correctly!!!
Oh, yes, and AA's food is the worst in the industry...when you get any.
I would rather join with all the UAL fans and lobby for AA's system being adopted by UAL. Rotza ruck, right?

Here's one UAL fan who strongly disagrees with you. For my reasons why:

AAdvantage Customer Service (nice folks) confirmed to me today that 2 million miles earns lifetime Platinum. As to food, I use airline for transportation and one can always order a "special" meal, salad, sandwich. Never expected grand gourmet chow, just safe and dependable transportation. Why have food courts developed at almost every airport? Because of poor airline food. One dog loses a bone, another finds it. Cheers

I use airline travel as an experience in itself and I expect great food in FC.

Catman,
When are you going to get you b*tt to LB? You keep teasing me about those yards of beer that you are going to drink with me.
I know, how about this, Hunnybear & Quietlion moving to SoCal, a new KK to open in LB next month, Shadow & Jackie threating to move down here, PremEx & Wingless live close, auh20 is always available for a drink, Stimpy lives 3 blocks away, Jailer lives in the city, and I can always get DTTB to visit. Now if we can just get essxjay to come visit us along with you we can have another LB Get Together!
Signing off,
The soon to be 3 time ACTING CMDR CATCOP!
