I signed up last July for the MCI/UA Mileage Plus affinity deal. I think it was 3,000 miles up front (or awarded within a brief period of time) and 5 miles per dollar.
I ignored this for a while, then came to figure out that I had not yet received the miles. I called MCI and worked out that since the phone was in my wife's name that was an issue for UA. I made the appropriate correction and again waited for the miles to post.
Yesterday, I got a call from MCI. The claim was that UA "won't post" the MP miles I should have received, I pressed a little and decided that I was actually being told the truth.
The alternate offer was an award of the same number of miles on various other partners, including BA, plus another sign-up bonus.
So I wound up with what I think is a reasonable deal: my original bonus of 3,000 miles, plus a small number of miles for usage, plus another 5,000 miles as a new signup bonus, all posted to BA within, of course, 60-90 days.
As soon as they post, I plan to get as far away from MCI as I can.
