Someone please help me out!

MCI has renegged on their promise to sign me up for the Z25D promotion with Delta that would provide 25,000 miles over 5 months. Their customer service signed me up that way, but then gave me only 5000 miles. When I called to sort it out, they referred it to a disputes department that insists I must provide an actual copy of the flyer before they will credit me the miles.

Is there anyone who can help me???? Please???

You could FAX it to me, email it to me, or send it to me (I'd send a SASE.)

Please let me know, and thanks in advance,

Bob

With MCI, I've found that if you don't get the answer you want, call back and a different operator will likely give you a different, possibly better answer. When I signed up for the 25,000 mile deal, the first person I talked to told me it wasn't available in Massachusetts. The second person gave me no problems and the miles have been credited as promised.

Keep in mind that most of the customer service reps are out to make new sales and are not interested in putting in time to help you resolve your problems( an MCI rep who was actually quite helpful told me this.) So keep trying until you get someone who can help you out. Good luck.

Yes, call back repeatedly until you get the miles!!! I have made no fewer than 15 calls to MCI and have FINALLY received all 25,000 miles. It was a real pain but I documented each call and eventually received a call from a supervisor who confirmed I WAS enrolled in the 25K offer. The last miles posted in my AA account last week... easily two months after they should have.

I *just* talked to MCI (4:45PM ET 9/9) and they DO have 25,000 mile offer with Continental. I can't imagine they don't have it with Delta as well.
Try calling 800-755-2180, I think this is the win back department. Act as if you are a new customer wanting to switch and ask about the 25K, if they say it is available, make sure you got their name, etc. and get to the Manager. They are riping you off cause you already switched. I switched to Sprint last week for the 25K on NWA and today MCI will give me 25K on CO to switch back. I am thinking of taking it, as I have no miles on NW, just figured I could use them for CO flights now.
Let us know what happens.

Well just got another 25K on MCI. Just love that promotion. Called and said I was a Sprint customer (True) who was getting 25k on NW (true) but was unhappy b/c of the 50 cents a minute rate on my calling card (true) and asked if MCI could match the deal. First she offered similar phone rates with 25c calling cards and only 10K but I explained that I would be leaving 25K for 10K and she put me on hold and came back with a yes. Nothing like 5K a month for a phone I barely use.

BSL

Thank you very much.

Try sending an e-mail. It worked for me. I've been getting my 5K per month with no problem since then. It took about two weeks for them to respond and the mileage started being posted in another 4 weeks, retroactive to enrollment.

Bob,

Keep calling them. Are you calling the 1800 754-7076 number for the Z25D promotion? Believe me from my dozen or so calls to them. They know it....
I am still working on them........

You might try e-mailing them. You can get the e-mail address for residential customer service off there web site.

MCI Worldcom is prompt at confirming receipt of email inquiries.

BE persistant. Let us know if you win...

Good Luck!

had problem with being promised 5000 for 5 months then receiving 2500 for 10 months in welcome letter. I sent an e-mail to www.mci.com/service (http://www.mci.com/service) 2 days ago explaining the problem. Just received and answer apologizing for the confusion and stating that, according to their records, my account is to be credited with the first 5000 miles on oct 5th. I suggest an e-mail over a phone call. Of course, i'll believe when i see it on oct 5th.

I am already an MCI user, does anyone know if they will give you the bonus for existing customers. I don't want to call and argue with them untill I get some advice from this board.

Thanks

In the past, I have got MCI to give me bonus miles even though I am an existing customer. It does depend on who you talk to. Once I have to change airline before they give 10K bonus miles. I have not been able to get 25K as an existing customer.

I was in the same situation (5k a month promised, 2.5 a month received) An e-mail quickly corrected this

Here is the response that I got from MCI re the 25k promo:

You are currently enrolled with the MCI Worldcom/American Advantage
program. You are earning 5 miles for every dollar billed, excluding
taxes and credits. You were also enrolled to receive 3000 bonus
miles-- these 3000 bonus miles posted to you Advantage account on
8-12-99. The 25,000 mile offer is only available for residents of
nine states-- Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Montana, North Dakota, South
Dakota, Tennessee, Washington, and Wisconsin. Due to tariffing
restrictions, only residents of these nine states may enroll with
the25,000 mile offer. The code that you have provided, Z25D, is not
associated with any American Advantage promotions.

Sincerely,

MCI Worldcom/American Liaison

The code you have provided Z25D is for Delta SkyMiles promotion. Try one more time but using code Z25A. Thar should help if the promotion is still ON.
Good luck http://talk.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Just a reminder, the Z25D promo is a "win back" promo. This code was not meant to attract new business, your supposed to be a former customer.

I was successful in using it while an MCI customer with the United program. I switched to DL and just had the last of my 25K posted yesterday.

Today I switched to Sprint for the 25K program. Yes it still exists for NW. You need to ask for the Sprint Sense Day program.
5 cents sunday and 15 cents all other times.. Minimum usage is 5.00 bill that or they bill the difference. This isnt an additional fee, just a minimum.

Hi folks,

Actually, you really don't need the codes for the individual airlines. MCI has set up separate phone numbers for each of the airlines.

All you have to do is mention 25K promotion and they will know what you want. I am also enclosing the promotion codes for reference.

The phone numbers are:
American 800-432-3426
Continental 800-256-1474
Delta 800-269-2292

The codes are:
Z25A-American
Z25C-Continental
Z25D-Delta

I signed up two different lines simply by calling each time and had no problems (I don't live in one of the 'promotional' states). I didn't have mention the promotional code.

Hope this info is of use to you

Bill

Thanks Bill:

After a couple calls to MCI on which they wouldn't give me the 5K a month for 5 months deal, I read your post, called the AA number you gave, mentioned the code, and bingo. And he said he'd do as many lines as I wanted on AA, DL or CO, including multiple lines on seperate accounts with same carriers at 5K/month, and it didn't matter whether the lines were already on MCI or not--he'd still do it!

Thank you much.

My call to MCI a minute ago showed the wide variety of ways reps handle the request for American Z25A

1) he said it's only for customers who've left MCI to get them back (already on MCI)
2) he asked if i actually received a flier in the mail offering this to me (i wasn't going to LIE, so I said a friend showed me the offer, which is TRUE)
3) but he gave me 2,000 AA miles because I called and asked!

Now this becomes like Mypoints...How many days must I wait before I call and get another 2,000 miles? You COULD earn more this way than the 5K per month!!!

I used the MCI/AA number posted above. The whole conversation took about 4 minutes and no time on hold.

Just so people know...
don't let them give you the "due to tarrifing restrictions, we can't give you this offer" crap. Bull. I called the CPUC (California Public Utilities Commission) who deals with tarriffing the phone companies in this state, and they told me that they (and the tarriffs they set) have NOTHING TO DO WITH MILES OR PROMOTIONS, just the rates the companies can charge. Someone at MCI (a rather high-up person) later admitted that to me. It's just their way of blowing you off. Keep trying, because it CAN be hard, depending on who you get. And don't count your chickens before they hatch, either. I've found that MCI will often TELL you they're signing you up for the offer, and then a couple months later when you check for the miles that will take "6-8 weeks to post" they aren't there and you call back and they say you weren't eligable for the offer so they gave you 10000 or some other lesser number of miles over 6 months. At that point, what do you do, now that you've already switched and spent with them and they don't follow through with their end of the bargain?

I totally agree with aflyer. As we're the frequent flyers, they're frequent liars. Don't be that excited before you actually get ALL the miles they've promised.

As soon as I get my new account number, I email MCI mailto:for.home.services@mci.comfor.home.services@ mci.com</A> to confirm that I am getting the 25k as promised. This way you have it in writing when they respond. So far, this has worked for me.
