Any other FTers dreaming about trekking to Chicago for the Yankees' first games at Wrigley Field (Friday, Saturday and Sunday, June 6-8) since the 1938 World Series? While the box office naturally is sold out, game tickets already are hitting Ebay.

I tried to get tickets back on opening day. Tried for 4 hours to no avail.

I also tried to get tickets on the day they went on sale but I was unable to snag any. I keep looking from time to time because you never know when tickets pop up.

This sounds like a good time to do my annual Wrigley trek. You can always get tickets before gametime at the Cubby Bear or Sports Corner. I even did this the day Sammy first hit 61 & 62.

Or better yet - how much would it cost to rent out one of the bleachers across the street?

I went to my first Cubs game the day Harry Carey came back.
They were sold out. Standing Room only available. I bought a ticket.

So I head in and see lots of empty seats (behind the plate). I take one. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif I was waiting for someone to show up, but it never happened.

Also among the throngs that tied up the phone lines and ticketmaster trying to no avail the day tix went on sale. Bought my A/L ticket the month before thinking between me and a few Chicago buddies attacking the phone and web at the same time, one of us would get the 4 tix we wanted. Ha!

Anyqway, will be in Chi that weekend, if anybody's really up for it, I'll sign up for the sucker, er, I mean, scalper action.

I'm very interested, especially if someone else does all the work. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

The best place for a group is the bleachers. But organizing something big for a Yankees/Cubs game will be too hard. We should just meet at one of the neighborhood bars and find our own way into the game. Then meet afterwards at Sluggers. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

I usually just scalp something at one of the local bars. If you wait til gametime, it's usually pretty cheap.

As someone who has had season tickets for about 20 years, I can tell you that there will be plenty of tickets on the street or at the local brokers before the game. However, expect to pay thru the nose, especially if the weather is good. Wrigley Field, July, Yankees? It'll be like the playoffs (Like I would know! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif )
