Hi everyone, in case you aren't aware of it, DL has removed many of the benefits in the Skymiles program and we are in the middle of a fund raising drive (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/Forum21/HTML/009120.html) to bring attention to our cause.
What is happening to us over at DL today will happen to you tomorrow. Please give your fellow Ft'ers that fly on DL some assistance and support our cause.
Currently the plan is to rent a rolling billboard that will display our message and drive it around several airports. Hopefully we will attract enough negative press for DL that they will give us back many of our benefits.
Also, if you have some free time, read some of the threads on the DL board.
Thanks for your help.

--Rssrsvp-- I remember, very well, when Andymo99 came to The Flyer Talk Community and asked for their help and support for the AidsWalkAtl... Russ21ATL, embodied the spirit of the Flyertalk Community, as he was (hopefully, &still-is) an employee of DL. The FT Community responded with great zeal. AidsWalkAtl became a community issue. I am hopeful that the Community will recognize the angst which DL flyers feel. Moreover, please understand Rssrsvp's point that this is not parochial. DL's draconian changes can and will affect all frequent flyers. I would urge, one and all, to go to the DL Board. The Miles your save could be your own. The contribution, you could make as a community could make a difference.
That's all fine and well, and I wish you good luck. The only message that DL's management will hear, however, is from Wall Street, and you reach them by voting with your checkbooks.
Stop flying Delta until they rescind the changes! Even if you live in Atlanta or Cincy or Salt Lake, make a connection and vote with your pocketbook. If these idiots think that their decisions are putting their million dollar salaries in jeopordy, then they will respond.

Rssrsvp, great post. I think as a community, we owe it to help out each other.
Unfortunately, I think csb is right. It's not just their million-dollar salaries, though they're as sensitive in that area as anyone else (including those like myself whose incomes are far below that level). They're making a business decision here. They feel DL's bottom line will be better with these changes than without them. In other words, what they save in SkyMiles costs will be less than the lost profit from defectors and other ways the changes lead to less paid flying.
They are, obviously, either right or wrong. Pleas to "save SkyMiles" will not persuade them one way or the other, since SkyMiles is only a means toward a business goal and is otherwise irrelevant. Letters that say "I spent $XX,XXX with DL last year, colleagues & family who follow my choice of airline spent another $XXX,XXX, this year I'm on AA because of the changes to SkyMiles" can have an effect, though. If you really want to "save SkyMiles," that's what they have to hear.

Also, find out who the influential airline industry analysts are and copy them your letters and make it clear in your letters to whom you're sending copies. Good Luck.

Could I please offer a kind suggestion as moderator: If we could please keep the discussion focused on the Community aspects of the original postsand restrain the great temptation to discuss the merits of DL's actions, it would aid the aptness of this thread to our Community forum. You are invited to discuss DL's acts in depth in the appropriate way on the DL forum. Thank you!

Ocn,
I think that this is a community issue. Delta has mede changes. USAir tried. United is changing right now.
This effects all of us. If a Major wins...we ALL lose.
US has their cockroaches....very effective
we are trying billboards and buttons at DL
I gave 100.00 and many gave more.
Believe me, if this starts with another line and you ask for money, Ill help. We are all in the same ship.
