I wouldn't be surprised to see one, considering the prediliction of FTers to rock and roll all ni-i-ght, and party ev-er-y day http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Well, this forum used to be about organized FT Gatherings (which is the way I preferred it).

Here's the official description of the Community Forum from when it was launched in May of 1999 (from the FlyerTalk Announcements Forum...it's still there): FlyerTalk Community - Here's where members can link and talk about their next get togethers. Whether its the Party in Paradise or the local FlyerTalk chapter in Dallas, here's where the community plans their events.

If you wanted to talk about your goldfish, your children's birthday or your favorite football team, or how many FlyerTalkers you want to kiss, that went to OMNI (which is exactly what OMNI was originally created for, and which I thought was fine).

But now Community seems to be OMNIesqly available to anyone that wants to post anything they want as long as it has to do with them, or any other FlyerTalker.

And that pretty much opens it up to just about anything you want, right? Because if I read a story about fly fishing in South Dakota and I think it's interesting, that says something about me, right?

So under current acceptable standards, post away!! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Should it be this way? IMHO, no. I think something that wasn't broken was "fixed." http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif

I think Community should go back to what it was, and perhaps just renamed something like "Gatherings" or "Parties." Perhaps OMNI needs to be renamed as well. It is the perfect place for all other posts "non-travel related" that help to foster a community spirit. Or not. But that's another issue.

All IMHO.

Yikes. Agree entirely with Premex on this one FWIW.

Just did a head count, and 10 of the 25 threads on the current front page of this Forum - interesting and witty and informative as many most surely are, do not fall even vaguely under the previous definition of "Community" threads.

Never in KISS, but I was one of the girls in that Robert Palmer "Simply Irrestible" video. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

Sorry, everyone, my mistake. I thought this forum was dedicated to kissing, kisses, Hershey Kisses and KISS. Just like OMNI is now "Only Lance Armstrong".

It is so confusing!

I concur my BIG BRUDDAR PREMEX!

Being guilty of making off topic posts on Community (like the "Classiest FT moments" one) I admit you are right.

Posts like this don't belong here:

Or this one:

They are in OMNI where they belong. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Many people who pariticpate in Community know each other and have become good friends. They just naturally like to laugh, play and have a good time together on line just like they do in real life.

If there is no spot to play on FlyerTalk Miles they will create one, as they have done on several hilarious occasions in the past.

Originally people played on The Buzz, then moved to OMNI, when OMNI was moved some play went with it, but some play moved to Tarom, when Tarom was moved................etc., etc., etc. This will always happen when a board is designed to accomodate the needs of the designer, rather than the needs of the users.

While it would be nice to have the Commnunity board devoted solely to get togethers, I don't have a serious problem with people playing in Community if it makes them happy. Playing actually does build Community. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Wow! So you can really dance as well as look good, eh?

I use to see him at Zarela all the time several years ago, i.e. just after the release of "Pressure Drop" and for the subsequent 3-4 years. Seemed like an awfully nice guy! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

We both shared a fondness for good Margaritas! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

Somebody help me out -- which is the correct forum to post my new thread, "How Many FT'ers have kissed Lance Armstrong"?

Moderator? Anyone?

You need to go to the "All Lance, all the time" Forum.

Formerly known as OMNI.

Care to enlighten me, and perhaps any other FT'ers, who may well be lost? http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Or are you just posting, once again, in another rather laughable and truly feeble attempt to increase your post count and incite others! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

As usual! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

Back to the original question...

No, but I did stay in a Holiday Inn Express last night! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

(my favorite commercial--but not my favorite hotel!)

Exactly. Both courteously and elegantly put. This is silly season ,and if we cannot have abit of fun with each other it is a really sad world. Surely enjoying each other is a preliminary to meeting people.

I am so pleased that Iam going to meet a new Flyer in Seattle in a couple of weeks time after months of enjoying her wit and irreverence! (Missing you already!!).

While I've never been in KISS, I have met former KISS guitar player Bruce Kulick a few times. He now plays for Grand Funk Railroad.

When are we going to have the "How many FTers have you had sex with?" thread? Now that would be an interesting read.

How do you define sex?

Thay is why the computer nerds should not be in charge of design. They should be the people who put the design into practice. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif
