Safe in Seattle.

We were advised that we could leave work "if we did not feel comfortable being here." A tragedy of this magnitude was certainly a distraction. Furthermore, being in a tall building near an airport did not seem a good idea on this saddest of days.

Let our hearts and prayers extend to those who have lost loved ones.

Everything's fine in Oakland.

I've taken the UA flight from Newark to SFO a dozen times this year. Very disturbing.

Prayers go to the many, many families that were affected by this horrible tragedy this morning.

Our history was forever changed today. Flying may never again be the same. At least for a very long time.

Hard to believe what has happened, especially the loss of innocent lives .....

Well, I picked a bad day for a mileage run.

I arrived safely from 7:00am EWR-MIA flight on time, to an airport so empty you could hear a pin drop.

No one gave us any indication during the flight that anything was wrong, but when we landed, the captain said to proceed to the luggage carousel and apologized that no one woulf be at the gate to assist us.

My apologies to my LA friends, who I will not be seeing tonight after all.

If the airlines start flying again tomorrow, would you go to be bcak home with your Wife and Kids? (Or should I be renting a car to drive to Newark)?

I've a day off today so am fine at home.

I think many FTers may be unable to check in for awhile as they could be stranded on flights that have landed at other airports than their destination.

Still here. We had to bail out of our building (right between the 28s approach at PIT) shortly before the United flight went down in Somerset. We will not be returning until such time as the FAA gets the 50 or so flights down and checked in PIT.

Oddly enough, I was supposed to coordinate a disaster recovery drill for a fortune 500 company starting tomorrow. Now, the facility has been cleared for anticipated action from NYC.

Safe at the Southwest Hilton in IAH. Just a $60 cab ride from the airport. I was en-route SDF-IAH (to a connecting flight to DFW) when everything was happening. No in-flight announcements, no announcement at landing, no announcement at airport....etc. Flight status screens also not changed. Baggage service posted a notice that 'due to weather' no bags would be retrieved. Looks like I'll need to go to DFW and retrieve my bags; then head home as the conference I was going to attend will likely be cancelled.

Cheers,

My company's parent must have in excess of 1,000 people in upper floors of Two World Trade Center. Info is sketchy at this time on their status.

A very close colleague and personal friend was able to go from the 102nd floor of 2 WTC to the cross-over in the 70's after the first crash. There security tried to keep them from continuing down (I'm assuming via stairs), but most people ignored security. My friend was able to get out and contacted her husband.

There are many, many people I've known for years working in 2 WTC.

OK here in Alexandria, VA. Have been watching Pentagon burn from my back door. Several sonic booms as fighter jets scrambled out of Andrews Airforce Base and circled DC and Pentagon. Was to board CO metal at 6:30am tomorrow to head for Florida. The conference of bankers I was to speak at has cancelled due to the expected heavy loss of life in the financial industry in NYC. They felt it would be inappropriate to be at a South Florida Resort while this trajedy continues to unfold. God bless the victims and their families. God bless those selfless rescuers puttuing their lives on the line. God bless America.

I am in Houston and safe. Our city has lots of closings, too. This roll call will tell us who is ok..........but how will we know who is not? I have been flying back and forth to Florida since my father in law has pancreatic cancer. Knowing I could not have gone today if I needed to is really a bad feeling.

My prayers are with all the victims in this tragedy.

Luckily, my step-daughter's dad is also fine. He evacuated his office in the WTC after the first hit.

God bless those who were touched by this, and swift justice to those responsible.

I am grateful to be home in San Francisco. I was on UA863 last night from JFK which was delayed 4 hours due to weather. The pilot announced that the delay could last for hours and if anyone wanted to get off and fly today, they could do so. The pax in front of me (1B) and several of his companions in C were on the phone to UA and got rebooked on the 8 am flight today. I only hope that was the 8 am flight from JFK and not EWR since the EWR flight was the tragic flight 93.

Safe at home and very happy to say all three sons who work in NYC are also okay. The oldest was taking off from EWR when the first plane hit the Trade Center. He's stranded in Detroit but alive and well. He's with the FBI so he and fellow agents were going to drive back to NY. The other two were trying to get home, one to Woodside, the other on Metro North.

My thoughts and prayers go out to those still waiting to hear about loved ones.

The hardest thing for us here in New York is not being able to do anything.
I'm in White Plains. That's 30 miles from the trade center. All inbound roads / bridges / tunnels into the city are closed.

This is just the beginning. Many of us here will be attending funerals soon. This is so sad. All of us know people that work down at the WTC.

Well I'm glad to be home in East Texas.

My family flew out of IAD (where one of the hijacked planes left from) on Sunday, and I can still picture security. Due to a cancellation I stayed at the ticket counter to sort out getting assignments for an earlier flight and sent my wife and two small children on ahead to the gate. I passed through security by myself with a bag and our daughter's carseat - the car seat was too big for the scanners so the security guard took it off my hands and gave it a cursory pat-down. It didn't even go through the walk-through metal detectors, so it would be very easy to conceal a weapon in something like that. Security will have to get better than that.

I'm also booked in to attend a conference on the 49th floor of the south tower of the World Trade Center in about two weeks - I'm sad to think that not only will there likely be no conference, but all of the people hosting it whose offices are there have probably perished.

What a sick world we live in. I pray for wisdom for America's leaders, and for comfort and support for the victims and their families.
