Thrifty - Thrifty & Gold Points

Does anyone have experience with receiving Gold Points resulting from Thrifty rentals. I've seen lots of negative posts here about Gold Points (albeit on magazine orders?) and wonder if it's worth the possible headache to sign up. Who needs another disaster like click rewards????

I can't speak to the posting of GoldPoints from Thrifty rentals (I usually find getting the miles directly from the airline instead is a better value), but you don't have to worry about a ClickRewards-type disappearance. GoldPoints is backed by Carlson Companies, owners of Radisson, TGIFridays, Country Inns, and more. Radisson has to compete with Hilton, Marriott, etc., so must have its own frequency program. I would be extremely surprised to see it fail.

You can get Goldpoints, and I think Goldpoints is a better way to go compared to airline miles. Goldpoints give you extra points after three rentals, and a free one after 9 rentals. You can convert Goldpoints to airlines miles on 5 to 1 ratio. I used to choose airlines miles, but now I go for the Goldpoints.

Actually, the airline exchange rate is 4 to 1, I believe. An even better deal. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

I've always received my Gold Points, including double points under a recent promo. I have not received my bonus points or free rental cert, however.
Also, I converted 10,000 points to WorldPerks miles nearly twelve months ago and am still waiting for them to post (after three phone calls). The 1-800-508-9000 people are terrible.

Looks like exchange rate is going to 8:1 as of today http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif but maybe June 1. Get your goldpoints converted soon.

Apparently, you are now required to have stayed at a Radisson property within the last 12 months to convert GP's to FF miles. However, a telephone CSR may be able to waive that requirement and give you the 4:1 exchange "one last time."
