Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer - Flying SYD LAX on A340- 500 in Y

Am thinking about buying a $1749 fare to LAX ex SYD. Was wondering if I can be booked on the A340 non stop or will I have to go via TOk or TPE givven this is discounted fare?????????

It seems you can get that fares going through Singapore. You have to pay slight ly more if you take nonstop SIN-LAX-SIN (the seats supposed to be more comfortable than the regular economy). I just tried the dates in Feb. And the fares is valid for 6 month max. And you can make stopover in Singapore. Plus it's earning the frequent flyer miles. And if you take the SQ19/20 I think there is a period of double miles promotion (mentioned in other thread).

I think it is quite a good deal. SYD-SIN 3912 miles. SIN-LAX 8763 miles. Roundtrip earns you enough to qualify for *Silver. Do it twice, you earn *G.

There is indeed a double KF miles promo until May 31th 2004 on SQ 19/20 (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/Forum88/HTML/001532.html) (one time, bonus does not count for tier status).

Sorry for so late replying this. I did not notice the thread last time I checked.
The fares that I quoted was from SQ web-site.

Took SQ19/20 3 Feb, and the bonus miles were posted right away.
