Does CX sell Chivas Royal Salute or JW Blue in duty free on board?
If so, can someone please check on the prices on upcoming flight (please note bottle size).
Thanx. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

You should have asked a few days earlier, I just browsed through the CX duty free (normally I ignore it but was looking for a certain item) and happened to notice that both Royal Salute and Blue were for sale ... with RS being much better value. I think it was 70cl size bottle for both, and price was something like USD 60 for RS and USD 120 for JW Blue. This surprised me as I view them to be equivalent quality and Blue does not merit double the price.

I completely agree. So far I have the following prices for Royal Salute:
1. HKG Duty Free: 800 HKD ($103) for 1 litre.
2. CX in-flight: 610 HKD ($78) for 70 ml (871 HKD, or $112, per litre equivalent).
3. JL in-flight: Y8,900 ($93) for 70 ml, (Y15,230, or $132, per litre equivalent).
Now, the only remaining benchmark for me is TPE Duty Free, otherwise HKG Duty Free "wins". If anyone is passing thru TPE, can you please check and post Royal Salute pricing?
Thanx.

Straight out of the january/march 2004 inflight "shop" catalog:
Royal Salute
700ml
HK$610 US$79
JW Blue Label
750ml
HK$850 US$109
***Note, these two were only found on the "North Asia Routes" page (Australia/Middle East/Other Asia Routes) and not on their "Available All Routes" page***
Hope this helps and isn't to late in coming.

Still time as I am leaving this weekend...Looks like 1 litre of Royal Salute for $103 is the best deal, absent a better price at TPE airport. Thanx.
