Cathay Pacific Asia Miles - Traveling JFK-BKK

Hi Everyone,
I am planning in making a trip on CX from New York/JFK to BKK on Cathay Pacific. On the flight there I am on a 346 to HKG connecting to a 34C to BKK. Flying back to JFK I connect through HKG on a 34C for both flights. I have three questions. Does the new Cathay Pacific business class beat NW and CO's (for that matter is the old one better)? 2.) Will I have the new Business Class on all four flights? 3.) Finally, is it better to take NW to BKK becuase they do not require a stop on their second leg home?
Thanks
Sam

Coming from somebody who has flown CX (new and old business class) and also NW in the new business class, by all means, fly CX!! While the new business class seat on NW is nice, it's no better than the CX NBC seat. The service, on the other hand, is leaps and bounds better on CX. Even if you get the old business class seat on CX versus a new business class seat on NW, the total inflight experience on CX will much more than make up for any seat differences.

Thanks for your reply... Now, I see that my flight from HKG-JFK has a stop on the way home as it is in a 34C (a 343 i believe?). Now, will that be more or less likely to have the NBC seat? Also, is it worth the extra 2 hrs of travel time to go on CX? Everyone tells me it is great!
Thanks!

All of CX's A340 aircrafts, (300 and 600 series) have the NBC seats.

I take it that you've never flown on CX.
Just try it. Your experience will be unique. Because there are some people who actually dislike CX over say, SQ. But those are few and far between.
ANY Asian carrier beats any American carrier in terms of service and comfort in their premium classes.

Thanks Guys!
I'll be on break and have a few days at home at the end of the trip, so a few more hrs on the return leg doesn't bother me http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif. You all have basically made up my mind for me (I've always wanted to fly CX http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif )

One Final Note,
I have a 2 hr connecting time in HKG on the way over, I'm assuming that's ok? However on the way back my connecting time is only 1hr 10 mins. Is that enough to clear customs in HKG (do I even have to?)
Thanks again

Glad you have decided on CX. To answer your questions, even a 1 hour 10 minute connecting time is ok in HKG, assuming flights are on schedule. You will not have to clear customs, but if your arrival gate is far from your departure gate, you may have to hurry along.

You'll also be denying yourself use of the Wing/Pier, which will take some of the fun from the experience.

Isn't unusual that Thai does not have direct/one-stop/non-stop flights to BKK from NYC/JFK. They are listed a panynj.gov as being present at JFK.
