Recently on my return flight from HKG-LAX, the FA asked if I wouldn't mind filling out a flight satisfaction survey. I agreed and was given a full 4 page survey that included questions about the specific flight as well as any pre-flight experience with CX ground people and also about future plans to fly CX. I was the only one in F given this survey and I did see one gentleman in J get one. Not sure about Y, but I assume somebody gets one there as well. In return there is a once a month drawing for 2 free tickets from HKG for HKG residents or to HKG for everybody else.

I did one of these surveys on a HKG-KIX flight in August 2002. I got a free Cathay Pacific pen, but did not win the tickets.

I got deluged with them when I first started flying CX. I was 100% on the first 6 flights or so. Now? Haven't seen one for about 18 months.

I got them twice on long-haul.
Never seen any correspondances from CX afterwards though. Not a pen nor ticket.

Just like PresRDC, I got to keep the pen that came with the survey.

Got one the other day HKG-YYZ. And from just about every hotel I stayed at in South Africa and Hong Kong. CX's was more random, only one of us in First and I don't know how many in Business.

It was quite a nice pen, really fat, which is good for a spaz like me. Unfortunately, it fell behind my desk a few months ago and is just beyond my reach.

CX conducts the "Reflex Inflight Survey" on all of its flights and the computer radomly selects which passengers will participate in the survey. It is distributed in all classes (First, Business and Economy).
I used to get heaps of these surveys when I was a Gold status member with Marco Polo Club but its has been a while since I received one as a Diamond card member.
The reason for this is that they do not want to disturb their most loyal customers from filling in the lengthy survey. If Diamond card members are unhappy, they will let the airline know. I agree with CX on this policy as I am not too fussed over if I get one to fill in or not. I rather not be disturbed inflight and continue to enjoy the fantastic service and latest movies onboard.
If I have a problem, I will either write in or call the customer relations in Hong Kong.

Same here. However, in my case it also coincided with my status being promoted from Sapphire to Emerald, which may be a trend if sq345 is correct in his reasoning.

For some reason I get them every time I fly whether in Y or J. It started when I became Silver. Very often the ISM will tell me "Mr. XXXX I konw you have filled out these before but would you mind filling out one again?" I don't mind. Have never recevied any correspondence afterwards however.

I was asked to fill out the survey on a HKG-LAX flight last December in 'J'. While waiting in the Pier before the flight, I was asked to fill out a survey regarding the lounges. In both cases, I got a CX pen.

I just got one last week in F from HKG-JFK. This was the first time they gave it to me.

Got a letter from CX in 2003 thanking me for filling out so many surveys. They deposited 10,000 miles in my Asia Miles account to say thank you.I think I filled out 4 surveys in 2003 to get this.
Maybe this is CX's way of apologizing for asking someone to fill out so many surveys. It is really annoying when they give you a survey, but very classy to give out a pen.

Got one on HKG-AKL after a YYZ-HKG flight, both in Y.
I got to keep the pen and it seems I didn't win the draw.

It's not like you are forced to do the survey. It would take about 2 seconds to simply say No, thank you if you didn't want to do it.

Flying Mom, I am not an CX employee lurking around this board. Just like other travellers and frequent flyers on this board, I am one of them who flies on CX and SQ.
Just one of the many loyal CX and SQ traveller.

I did it many times... I actually filled out the survey on my last flight from TPE to HKG on a morning flight on Dec 30, 2004. I was handed the survey during the last 30 minutes of the flight... but I always enjoy filling it up... (especially by one of the most handsome CX F/A guy I have ever seen... how can you say no?) The survey is actually nicely designed... and you really don't have much to complain. I sort of want to fill a survey on the return flight from HKG to TPE though... those disgusting cold lunches and so called warmed pizzas were simply a disgrace... those are not business class... a warm meal should be served during all meal times... for off time flights, I can let CX get by, but not lunch and dinner.
Next time, I will request a sandwich from Y... that pizza is bad...
Back to the surveys, I have yet to win a ticket... anyone did here in this board. Just curious!
Also, they passed out surveys in Y too.

Same as paisan, I got 10,000 miles credited in Dec '03 for the surveys. Not sure how many I did last year, probably 4 or 5. No skin off my nose - I'll happily take 10k and a free pen for a few minutes commenting...

If anyone actual wants a response from CX to their questions, an inflight comment card seems to be the way to go. Also, if you don;t have status with CX but do fly on them reguarly, it's a useful way of getting your name on the CRM radar. I got a nice little present from their UK manager earlier this year..

hi!
I got chosen to fill in one of these survey form when I was flying HKG-AMS last December. Was chosen due to my FFP since the Purser came, greeted me by name and said that as part of the Oneworld family FFP (am BAEC) member, could I please fill in the survey. Agreed and got the big green pen too http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif
But till now, nothing from CX or news of me winning a pair of tickets http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif

Like many of the posters here I too have filled out many of these surveys, have a nice collection of CX pens and have received several letters thanking me for comments I have made.
The strangest occurence however was HKG-CDG in F. I was given a survey in German. While I have a Germanic name I do not speak German. Before I could say anything the FA returned, aplologized and said she had given me the wrong survey and handed me another. This one was in French. While my French is not all that good it is certainly good enough to fill out a survey. When I was almost through the ISM arrived to say it all was a mistake and I should not have been given a survey at all. Didn't even get a pen this time.
Out of curiosity, I wonder how many languages the surveys are printed in and whether the process is random or does CX tend to seek comments from one particular demographic segment.

As a Diamond member I have been getting them about 3-4 times a year, which isn't noticeably different from the brief period before I became one.

I have answered inflight survey several times. Also, I received bonus Asiamiles for these surveys as some others posted.
I had a lounge survey in the Pier a year or two years ago. It was only one experience.
Bye the way, I had three consecutive BA flights LHR/CAI/LHR/NRT. In these flights, I had surveys of LHR/CAI and LHR/NRT.
In the flight LHR/NRT, flight attendant said, because of I was only Japanese passenger in F cabin.
On a CX flight, in my personal impression, I was selected in routes/classes with a few Japanese passengers.
For example, F in CDG/HKG, C in HKG/SIN/HKG. etc.
