As a part of my DONEW Iam on
CX 784 D 04SEP 6 DPSHKG HK4 15.55 - 20.45
SSR RQST CX HK4 DPSHKG/01AN,P1/02AN,P2/01KN,P3/02KN,P4/RS/RS/S19
reserving my seats, the seat map opened the coniguration of the old 747 without sleapers in business.

The availability has only J/D/C and no F/A seats on this flight. But it allowed to book 1A , 1K , 2A , and 2K which are defenetly F seats !
Do they sell the F seats as business ???

None as a matter of routine, but I have chanced on an A340 on HKG - MNL and HKG - KUL in the past.

Keep in mind that they may be substituted at the last minute back to 2-class aircraft. I booked one of those flights last year on HKG-DPS only to discover that the aircraft was changed back to 2-class 2 days prior to departure. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif

OTOH, I was offered seat 1G when I checked in for my HKG-ICN flight last week as the aircraft was substituted from the regular A330 to A340. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif You win some, you lose some. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

Check your flights if you had one of the 747's and were in the first cabin (3 class sold as 2). Mine for June 2 DPS-HKG just switched today from a 747 to a 330 (2 class sold as such. So much for the extra comfort.

Another note.. why are the DPS flights so inconvenient to connect with the flights I need? http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif
seems you can't connect akl/syd-hkg-dps or dps-hkg-cmb without an overnight in hkg.

because they mainly carry HKG vacationers to the island of bliss. not a lot of business going to DPS via HKG, especially not C/J. Most tourists there come up from down under (QF,SQ) or from back over (TG,SQ,LH and lots of charter).

If you can snag an F seat on the two-class flights to Bali, do so. Not only is it a better seat, but the service is much more personalized. I did HKG-DPS in August of 2002 on a three class A330 and they closed the curtains between F and J and were served from the front galley. Much better.

It may flop back and forth a bit more.
Since I booked a trip for May 19th, the equipment has gone from a A330 to a A340 to a 744, and now back to an A330. I suspect I won't know until the week before what I am going to get.
