I've been looking at flights LAX/SFO-HKG on 3/19 and 3/20 and the premium cabins are sold out on CX, SQ, AC, and even UA.

The Hong Kong Sevens (rugby) is on 3/26-28 so it may fans heading to/from. And before you ask, yes, the HK 7s is exactly the sort of event that would inspire someone to fly halfway around the world. CX in F to see the HK 7s is one of my dream trips.

It is the weekend before the CSFB AIC. Every greedy little banker interested in picking up Chinese crumbs is on its way to HK that weekend. And they all fly premium, because, frankly, it is the only way to fly.

It is the weekend before the CSFB AIC. Every greedy little banker interested in picking up Chinese crumbs is on its way to HK that weekend. And they all fly premium, because, frankly, it is the only way to fly.

And to tie the two events together, CSFB is sponsoring the 7s and that is why they put the investor conference right before the 7s.

Interesting ... I was curious why CX LHR-HKG was sold out in F ... but BA wasn't, so I am going BA which isn't that bad if the Concorde room still has some Sir Winston Churchill left. However getting a room at the Pen was no problem, wonder where they are all staying? As an aside, it seems rather telling that CX would sell out F first before BA (and from LHR), I guess that answers the question of which is better.

2 weeks ago it was down to either Perrier Jouet Belle Epoque, Piper Heiseck Rare or Pol Roger Rose.
