So does that mean V class fares can now earn mileage after April 5th?

Yes. But after that date S class fares will not earn mileage.

Most peculiar. I always expected the oneworld members to start unifying their fare classes. But this change goes in the opposite direction. V is below S in all other oneworld programs AFAIKT.

Thank you for the info, christep.

This change will not entail any changes in mileage earning subclasses?

The following subclasses will only be eligible for mileage accrual in Economy Class for CX flights on and after 5th April, 2004:

Y, B, H, K, M, L, and V subclasses.

Therefore, S sub-class become ineligble for mileage accural and replaced by V class.

For your information, the subclasses affected are the reversing of S and V as well as O and Q classes.

This thread would have been a lot shorter if people took the time to read my original posting. None of the subsequent posts add anything at all!

I wonder why the changes?

I was a bit confused by this move.

Some markets, notably, BKK, has quite a few S fares -- the lowest fare and mileage accrual possible.

Without any subclass changes for sale, these changes in booking classes, I thought, would simply mean no more lowest fare if I want miles.

BKK agents have already announced that CX is going to effect that V-S replacement. So the lowest fare, previously booked under S, will now be booked under V.

As TerryK says .... why the changes?
