Cathay Pacific Asia Miles - "Would Mr X please come to CX for a message" - so what is the message?

I was sat in the Pier F section for about an hour on Thursday night before catching the 251 back to LHR. There must have been at least 10 PA messages like the one in the title during this time. Why?

Are they all upgrades? CX's revenue management can't be that mad that so many people get op-up'ed. Or do MP Club members have a special unpublished messaging perk? Bewildered minds would like to know. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

BTW - the title should say CS (as in Customer Service)

Very often, it has been upgrade for me.

If they know I am in the lounge after, for instance, I talked to one of the agents to request a seat change, etc., they come to me and bring an upgraded boarding pass in person, instead of making that announcement.

One of those was for me about two years back when I was sitting at The Wing. I walked up to the desk and asked what the message was and she asked, "did u leave something behind?". And she handed to me my trusty PDA, which was pretty costly to lose. She then said, "Oh! I also have an upgrade for you!"

Now, was that a coincidence or what?

It can also mean "come collect your cash".

One time I was downgraded frm F->J due to an aircraft change on the HKG-BKK route from a 744 to 330.

They paid me the fare difference plus "compensation" in cash.

From my Experiance CX is very good about offering unsolicited upgrades in that manner. I have noticed they tend to come looking for me and others in the first class lounge rather than paging. By far the most upgrades are "Given Out" in HKG. I fly on my own dime, So I buy the cheapist economy ticket I can get on the plane. ( They are usually so discounted I can not even upgrade using Asia Miles ) But by flying CX ( 150,000 last year) and being a CX Diamond I get upgraded over 50% of the time without even asking. Much better service than I ever recieved on UA, AA or NW. CX is a class airline and rewards good customers while most american airlines ignore them.
