Cathay Pacific Asia Miles - Is it possible to get YVR-JFK in Z (F award)

I posted this in the AA forum as I am using AA miles but thought I would cross post to draw on the CX experts as well.
Anyone know how to make this work? Z is First class on a three class plane. I speak to AA and there is inventory available on the flight CX 888 YVR-JFK. However, there is no code or mileage amount for them to deduct. I suggest the same as a three class flight in the U.S. They can't do it! Any suggestions?
I am already booked on the flight in U which is business.

Of course they can! They have to redeem it as a premium First Class award for 65K. I mean, what are they doing for F class AA awards that have 3 classes of service domestically?

Well Guy you and I think alike - now if I can just convince AA of that.
You don't by any chance have a "official" * file for this do you?
Just spoke to a very knowledgeable agent at the EXP desk and she originally agreed with us -65k same as transcon premium. However, when she tried to do it she could not because it was "not allowed", the Z inventory is only valid for travel originating in Asia (HKG). She believes it is because that is the only flight that offers F to and from Canada. While all other 1w carriers in effect AA offer only biz.
So I am open to any further suggestions.

AA will want you to deduct 90K, by the old award standards for F. It was code CX90E. AA's new award structure leaves out CXs JFK-YVR transcon NA route. If you can still get AA to issue a CX90E (since any and all old awards that still exist must go by those same rules), maybe....just maybe....you can get it.
J class for JFK-YVR was CX50B.

I did it last year but booked a year in advance.

Thanks for the replies. I do not want to spend 90k on one segment if that is what you are saying Cygnus.
JHIN, AA can easily find the Z inventory on that leg - they just tell me there is no award to deduct to coincide with that that type of award. Do you recall what they deducted from your account?
Thanks

Hi Mike. They should deduct 60K with their new award structure. I have done this without problems since the introduction of the new structure.
Cheers!

FlyAOW,
I have mentioned that to AA and they say no. That CX 888/889 between YVR and JFK are not available for award travel. The highest availalbe is U class which is business. If you have done this do you still ahve the dates of travel or the PNR I can give someone at HDQ so they can see it?
Thanks for your help.

FINALLY
Due to the feedback from posters here and my determination - I finally got an AA agent to read the rules on a P60A Award. It includes CX YVR-JFK!!!!!!
Better yet the award inventory was still available for the day I want to travel.
Thanks again to the FT'ers who offered advice. I knew listening to you and not the original couple of agents made sense http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif
