Cathay Pacific Asia Miles - Lowest CX Business fare US/Canada to KUL? Break the fare?

I need to travel to KUL sometime in February (some flexibility plus or minus a few days in each direction), preferably in paid Business on CX. I've been spoiled the past few years by low fares (published and CXLeverage) to other CX destinations -- TPE, BKK, etc. BKK seems to be considerably more -- some ~$4900+ r/t for a D28 (the lowest published business class fare) from the origins I've been checking (BOS, JFK, YYZ, MHT, SEA, LAX, YVR).

My preference would be to fly BOS/MHT/PVD to some CX gateway (I can take care of a separate ticket as needed), then to HKG to KUL on CX. But if needed, if saving were sufficient, I might tolerate a -HKG-xxx-KUL for some other intermediate destination (e.g. BKK), and the final segment wouldn't have to be on CX or in Business.

Any suggestions? I can use CXleverage fares; I can buy my return ticket in KL; I probably can use whatever other tricks folks suggest. But I can't spend $5000!

Buy a DX28 ticket from West Coast U.S. to TPE via HKG.

LAX X/HKG TPE X/HKG LAX for USD 2827+tax

And another ticket

TPE X/HKG KUL X/HKG TPE (Full J) for USD 1192+tax Note: This ticket has to be issued in TPE as "SITI" in order to take advantage of this fare. If you ticket this outside Taiwan, "Higher Intermediate Fares" (the fare of HKG-KUL-HKG at USD 1606) will apply as it is "higher".

Total comes to USD 4019+tax (assuming you issue and pay for our second ticket in TPE).
