Apparently Cathay will not be producing a Club Diary for its members in 2004 as it has been doing since 1995... presumably another victim of cost cutting.

Instead they are giving, for "special customers" (by that I presume they mean Diamond MPO members) alternative diaries - I got in the mail today a generic diary I could go down to any bookstore chain and buy. However, they have gone to the trouble of imprinting a CX logo on it, as well as my name, as has been traditional for Diamond MPO members.

A pity though, I rather liked the CX diaries they've put out in the past, especially those in the last few years. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif

What diaries are we talking about as I am not aware that CX gave a diary to its Diamond card members.

Can you please clarify.

A diary! Alaska Airlines sent us MVP Golds a box of gourmet chocolate cookies! (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/Forum8/HTML/001845.html) http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/tongue.gif

CX have sent me a nice, large-sized hardback CX desk diary every year since 1995 when I was a green member (now equivalent to silver). It has a few glossy pages of CX info in the front, then a double-page spread for each week of the year.

When I reached Diamond status the diaries' hardback covers were replaced with a leather cover and also my name stamped on the front which was a nice touch (great ego boost http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif)

As I've seen the normal diaries available for sale from the CX Head Office in HK I assumed that diary distribution was a little Christmas gift from CX to its MPO members across the world... although I don't know if this was actually the case or if it was just a nice gesture on the part of the NZ office.

I vaguely recall receiving a diary from CX Canada, somehow, a couple of years ago. I might have a registered address there.

I haven't received anything from CX except an invitation to a year-end thank-you dinner party from the Tokyo office.

I got a diary, a big calendar for the wall, a small calendar for the desk, big and small diaries from NH, a calendar and a christmas cake from LH. That's about it. Nothing from UA this year.
