Cathay Pacific Asia Miles - If i enrolled for marco polo club, will i be getting milesView Full Version : If i enrolled for marco polo club, will i be getting miles JNLentertainment Dec 12, 03, 10:17 pm and getting miles with AA elite club card? or I have to choose only 1? thanks jakob Dec 12, 03, 10:25 pm Originally posted by JNLentertainment: and getting miles with AA elite club card? or I have to choose only 1? thanks i think you have to choose between the 2. it's not like the BA EC where you can credit the tier points to EC and the miles to Asia Miles. JNLentertainment Dec 13, 03, 12:57 am so you mean if i apply for like AA mileage club, i can still have credit plus with asian miles? coz i have asian miles. or only british airways that u can get 2 credits? jakob Dec 13, 03, 1:23 am Originally posted by JNLentertainment: so you mean if i apply for like AA mileage club, i can still have credit plus with asian miles? coz i have asian miles. or only british airways that u can get 2 credits? you have to choose between AAdvantage OR MPC/Asia Miles. SkyAsia Dec 13, 03, 5:14 am You can only accrue miles in one program. Either in CX's Asia Miles/Marco Polo Club or Amercian Airlines AAdvantage. Let me clarify the distinct difference between Asia Miles and Marco Polo Club: Asia Miles = earning and burning miles on oneworld alliance partners and other airlines such as Alaska Airlines, Dragonair, South African Airways, Swiss International Airlines, China Eastern Airlines, Vietnam Airlines, Japan Airlines and Japan Asia Airways. Marco Polo Club = elite membership status programme where you earn recognition for your patronage to oneworld airlines. Here you get access to lounges, priority boarding, priority waitlisting and other great benefits of elite membership. When you join Marco Polo Club, you are automatically an Asia Miles member. I am not a member of the programme but have colleagues who belong to the Club and say it is a worthwhile programme to belong to. Maybe, I will join and reap the benefits that people are talking about in Bangkok. Guy Betsy Dec 13, 03, 9:18 am But if you're based in the USA, then joining AAdvantage is all you really need. Try posting on AA's forum to ask for advantages to joining AA's programme. What programme do you have now? JNLentertainment Dec 13, 03, 2:29 pm i am with Premiere Elite in Philippine Airlines and Delta skymiles medallion member. But wilth delta, I think I can only use SQ, Virgin atlantic, Malaysian Air, China Airlines. I am not really into american carriers really. Because I travel alot to asian countries. Do you think, It's nice to join Marco Polo club , and still retain my asia miles account number? For example, If I travel Roundtrip MNL-LAX-MNL on business class I will be accruing almost 20,000 miles. So will I get 20,000 miles in Marco Polo clubmiles and 20,000 in Asian Miles? or can I get 20,000 miles from Marco polo, and at the same time 20,000 miles in American airlines club? thanks Guy Betsy Dec 13, 03, 10:18 pm Originally posted by JNLentertainment: i am with Premiere Elite in Philippine Airlines and Delta skymiles medallion member. It services 2 loyalty programmes in asia. The Marco Polo Club, and BA's Executive Club in Asia. So if you don't join either of the above, you won't get any status if you just accrue mileage with asiamiles. You have the choice of joining the loyalty of either programmes only. Marco Polo Club may accrue mileage only in asiamiles. Or BA Airmiles if you live in the UK. (but you don't get executive club loyalty points). So you cannot accumulate loyalty miles into MPC and award miles miles to AAdvantage. You can only accrue the miles into MPC/Asiamiles. Why do you want to accrue into MPC? Its much easier to accrue into AAdvantage, and get loyalty as well especially if you fly on Business Class. When you get to Platinum level (Oneworld Sapphire), (and that can achieved after just one return flight on CX Business Class through an AA challenge) you'll get 100%bonus miles for every Oneworld flight thereafter. JNLentertainment Dec 13, 03, 11:35 pm so, with one roundtrip MNL-LAX-MNL on busines class I can be a platinum with AAdvantage? But you need to enrol in the "Platinum Challenge". This is best posted in the AA forum as to how this can be achieved after you become an AAdvantage member. You won't be given upgrades just because you're Oneworld Sapphire. Each airline will reward their own elite members first and will only upgrade when the class they are booked on is oversold. BA is infamous for not giving upgrades. You earn domestic upgrades on AA when you travel every 10K miles on any oneworld airline. These can be used to upgrade on US/Canada flights when travelling on AA metal. The AAdvantage programme is one of the easiest programme in which to earn miles on. When reaching elite status, ie Platinum and Exec Platinum, you may use this status to enter Oneworld member lounges when travelling outside the USA. When travelling on AA however, you need to join the AAdmirals Club in order to enter the lounge no matter what status you hold. But please take this question to the American forum - it doesn't belong here. Guy Betsy Dec 14, 03, 10:51 am Originally posted by JNLentertainment: thanks, how to enrol in platinum challenge? 1. Join AAdvantage online. 2. Call AAdvantage Customer Service prior to your first oneworld flight and say that you'd like to enrol in the Gold challenge. 3. After you reach Gold, then you call and ask to enrol in the Platinum challenge. If you have more questions on this - post your question to the AA forum. |
