Has anyone ever volunteered to give up their seat on a CX flight? I'm booked in J on Jan. 3 SYD-HKG-LAX routing. Both flights are full. I'd like to know what the airline typically offers as compensation, and if they re-book on other airlines.
Thanks.
i got cash HK$2500 in early Jan 2 years ago on HKG-YVR.

That's about $350 US. If you were delayed a couple of hours, that's reasonable. What were the particulars, if you don't mind?

Offered once on SFO-HKG when flight was oversold. Offered $600US plus overnight accommodation to take next day's flight on CX, or $400US and take CI connecting in TPE. I declined both offers.
all the CX flights to North America were heavily overbooked at that time. i was asked to take the next day's flight.
