Cathay Pacific Asia Miles - Asia Miles and Lounges???

Hi Does anyone here know if there are a number of Asia miles (which dont expire I presume) you have to accumulate to get into the CX lounges? i.e. Marco polo clubs...any relation between the two??

Asia Miles won't get you into the lounges, unless you use those miles to upgrade to J or F classes. I heard some people get invited to be a MPC member due to their high number of points with AM, but that's another story.

You can join MPC for a fee. But you need to gain Silver status at least to gain access to lounges too.

You need 30,000 Marco Polo Club miles per year to reach Silver which will get you access to Cathay lounges only and only when you are flying Cathay.

you can also redeem asiamiles for an award to use the business class lounge, i think it is 7000 miles per visit.

Yes they do. They expire at the end of the third membership year after the one in which you acquired them.

If you are residing in Asia and apply for CitiBank Cathay Pacific VISA Card, the enrolment fee for Macro Polo Club is waived.

Whenever you accrue miles on Cathay Pacific and OneWorld airlines, you will earn miles which you can redeem through Asia Miles. These miles (or sectors) you earned will be tracked under your Macro Polo Club for purpose of determining your status with the club. E.g. You will need 30,000 miles or 20 sectors to attain Silver member, which gives you access to CX Business Class lounge.

I think you need to be a MPC member to redeem that lounge access letter. It's limited to business class lounges for green, silver and gold members but if you are dimond, you can also redeem first class lounge access for 10,000 miles.

if you were dimond wouldn't you have access anyways?

The Asia Miles lounge redemption scheme is designed for people travelling with MPO members who wouldn't normally be allowed into the lounge.

According to the official rule, the member does NOT need to be travelling with a passenger seeking lounge access redemption.

The lounge access is also available when flying other airlines. If I were still travelling frenetically and had loads of miles that is when I would use it: to get myself into the First Lounge.
