Cathay Pacific Asia Miles - CX 521 NRT to HKG...chances of upgrade on friday flights

Hi all...I am an AA Platinum and was wondering what passenger loads are typically on Fridays out of NRT. Has anyone had experinces of being op-uped on those flights? Thanks in advance.

I used to make the HKG NR run once every few weeks for years found that cx505 at 6:30 J to F was pretty common. Y to J depends on the Japanese hoiliday travel market - which recently has been poor to HKG.

Best sector to get upgrades on CX must be BKK to SIN or SIN - BKK onmly sector that ahve I recieved double upgrades several times.

Any others have votes for "all time easiest upgrade sectors on CX"?

CX normally upgrades its own Marco Polo Club and Asiamiles members before proceeding to other members' program.

I thought it was the conventional wisdom here that CX generally U/G'd their top tier members followed by ow top tier, CX mid-tier, then OW mid-tier, etc. etc...

CX's levels are MPO Life and MPO Diamond (Both Oneworld Emerald), MPO Gold and MPO Ruby (Sapphire and Ruby).

In all honesty, each CX port uses their own discretion when UP'ing members. Most major cities try to UP CX MPO Life, Diamond and Gold ahead of other Oneworld Emeralds. But sometimes other ports which are handled by non CX staff go about their own way. ie BKK is handled by TG staff and they have absoultely no idea what order they give their upgrades to. Hence the sometimes double upgrade to non oneworld members AHEAD of anyone else!

Er, MPO Life was withdrawn years ago. Perhaps you mean MPO Invitation?

I'll second the motion on that - flew BKK-SIN when I was a QFF Bronze (ie nothing) on the CX flight and got given an upgrade to J. Y seemed to be full to the brim with tour groups, so I guess I got lucky!

I had thought BKK is the only place where you could possibly be given a double upgrade until last week. At another port, I was rather surprised, along with the gate agent who processed my boarding pass, that my green boarding pass had to be exchanged with a red one. I was even on a redemption ticket.
