I'm flying from Chicago to Bangkok via SFO & HKG on an award ticket in first on AA/CX and arrive into Bangkok at 10:50 a.m. I am continuing on to Phuket and have purchased a ticket (e-ticket) on Thai Airway's website for a flight that leaves Bangkok at 1:00 p.m.

My question is about checked luggage. Since I will obtain my luggage at customs should I just take it to the check-in counter in the domestic terminal myself, or should I let them automatically transfer it to the Thai flight? I am concerned that it might not make the connection.

Thanks in advance.

Let TG take care of transferring it from international terminal to domestic, but when you check in at the TG domestic counter, mention to the agent that you have bags that came in from an international flight.

Last time I flew, I picked up my baggage at the international terminal and walked with it to the domestic terminal to check in for my BKK-HKT flight.

I'll probably check it straight through next time. I believe they give you a sticker or somthing that means that your bag still has to clear customs upon arrival in HKT.
