I only have CX experience withint Asia and considering LAX flights on these dates. In Y. Yikes. Are these seat assignments accurate because there only appear to be seats in the rear.
How do these loads compare with SFO ? TIA.

I think ex-SFO has been packed for awhile. Even a few days ago, I was at their SFO checkin counter and saw\heard the duty manager calling the duty manager at SQ about available biz-class seats. Way overbooked in biz, and some biz pax who were going to checkin late would get downgraded to Y. Thankfully I wasn't flying that nite on CX. Would have been a great nite though to be CX Diamond as I think there were a few opups to F.

What compensation, if any, do we figure CX offers under these circumstances?
Cutting towards compensation: Confirmed business class ticket, CX overbooking.
Cutting against: Late check in, perhaps later than CX's rules officially permit.
Cutting towards: Late check in is a perk, admittedly unofficial, of flying J/F.
Hmm... Glad it wasn't me!

in general, the flights out of SFO have more availability in J and F, Y is oversold almost every day. J will get oversold when they switch the aircraft from 74B to 744 at the last minute which has happened to me twice this month.
the flights out of LAX tend to be full in J and F but Y is also pretty full. I actually had to use the guaranteed J seat privilige recently.
there will be more availability out of LAX when the 2nd daily flight is added back to the schedule in october.

i was flying SIN-HKG last year and was downgraded from F to J because of a last minute mechanical problem. we were re-booked on a later flight on CX that only had J and Y. originally i did not receive any compensation. in the end, i had to call customer relations and register a complaint and i finally received a check for the difference between the F and J fares.

Any input on the NY flights also appreciated. Too many options here.

But that's not compensation, is it? Aren't you owed that anyway? I thought compensation is what's over and above what you're already 'owed' by the carrier?
