Cathay Pacific will be "resuming" flights to Beijing starting November.

The carrier will fly 3x weekly with A330. Flight schedule is likely to be evening service to beijing and morning service to HK, as the 330 will be staying at Beijing for a night.

It'll also start Freighter service as well, also 3x weekly.

If anyone tracks down the schedule I certainly would like to know...this is excellent news I have been waiting for CX service like this. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

That'll definitely come in handy on RTW's now, having the missing link filled in from China into Hong Kong - now just for them to get the Shanghai flights flying too.

3x weekly? It's sort of hard for business people to schedule around CX's flights? It would be better if it's 3x daily!

i really sounds like a very light schedule. maybe they only got a permission for a certain number of pax per week.

how many other airlines operate that route? dragonair?

They have permission out of HKG for three times daily, but I guess either the mainland is restricting them more, or they simply don't have enough planes at the moment.

Currently Dragonair, Air China and China Southern fly HKG-PEK.

yes, they have permission to fly 3 flights a day...but I think, similar to most other bilateral air agreements, there is a fixed number of maximum number of flights between 2 points for carriers from each side...and now I think KA has been using most of the weekly frequency already, just 3 flights left that CX can take...if CX wants to operate more flights in the future, first it has to ask the HKG government to negotiate again with the mainland government to increase the frequency between the two cities...then it can take some/all of the increased frequency...
