Cathay Pacific Asia Miles - CX880 A340-600

I was on CX 880 from HKG to LAX on 3/28. It was on the new A340-600. I was suprised that the load in economy was still pretty high, around 70 percent considering the hype of the pnuemonia outbreak. I sat on the two-seat side, and I had an empty seat next to me. Most of the Asian passengers wore masks as well as the majority F/As.
I was very impressed by the plane. The IFE screen is huge; it is the biggest I have ever seen in economy class. The seat is very comfortable too. It has a cup-holder, a footrest, lumber support and a adjustable headrest. There is a sign on the armrest. I am not sure what it is for, but it seems to me that it shows you how to adjust the seat depth. Can anyone confirm this?
Also, I have been getting the business class priority luggage label on all the CX coach flights after I became AAdvantage gold status, but I don't get this perk on AA flights. Can anyone tell me why this happens?

You are OW Ruby, which is supposedly equivalent to CX Silver. CX offers priority baggage, check-in, boarding, and lounge access (member only) at the Silver level. I guess the check-in agents noted your Ruby status and gave you priority baggage handling. You will only have lounge access with CX if you are J or F passenger, or as an OW Sapphire (1 guest on any airline allowed, J lounge) or Emerald (2 guests on any airline allowed, J lounge, 1 guest on any airline allowed, F lounge).
On AA, ONLY premium class passengers are given the yellow/orange "premium" baggage tags. However, many times AA check-in agents tend to forget to attach the tags (or didn't really know of their existence), so it is a good idea to remind them (especially true out of SFO)!

"Premium Class" passengers on AA mean basically the transcontinental routes, and major international flights except Canada.
Domestic First Class routes do not even have this Priority baggage handling tag!

OW Ruby does NOT state you are allowed Priority Baggage Handling. OW website does NOT state such benefit either.
If the checkin agents do so, they either:
1) Don't know about this differentiation
2) They are doing you a favor
So, if they forget to, don't ask for it, because it's not an official rule. If they do, treat it as a bonus. It's always good to have such bonus though.

Actually, if you click through to the OW Emerald or Sapphire symbols on the OW site, it doesn't mention anything about priority baggage handling either.
I was under the impression that since OW Rubies are allowed to check in at the Business Class counter, a logical follow on from that would be priority baggage handling.

But the reality is that, checkin agents think exactly same way you do. Because the customer is checking in at Biz Counter, they would ASSUME that you are entitled to the benefit. Better to tag you than being complained by you at later stage, right?
