Cathay Pacific Asia Miles - HKG - The Wing is no longer 'peaceful'

Has anyone noticed how The Wing at HKG, is no longer peaceful?

I'm there now... and the HKIA's on going announcements (not CX's) are driving me crazy. CX has said that they have complained to HKIA but because the speaker is directly below the First Class lounge area, it echoes throughout like a bad speakphone.

There was one moment I remembered that the announcements were NOT that bad. What happened?

I agree. It's ironic that the signs say "for the comfort of our passengers, flights will not be announced ... ".
Maybe lots of A/J pax were missing their flights, so they turned up the volume?

I have noticed that this has gotten worse - I tried hiding in the reading room, which was quieter but the WIFI signal was not very good!! Of course any part of the Wing is quieter than a cabana shower with the banging pipes!

The flight announcements at HKG which I found the most annoying are the ones produced by one of those "automated" systems (similar to those telephone recording you listen when you call the flight information hotline).

I think the voice for those pre-recorded recordings is the same as the voice used on the "Jardine Airport Services" flight inquiry hotline.

I'm glad to say that I'm not the only one complaining. The CX staff are all annoyed to no end but they have no control what HKIA does but have voiced their complaints. Their suggestion is that WE voice our complaints.

It's not MY complaint. But a legitimate one. Which reminds me, how come you do't hang out at the SQ forum anymore? Can't stand the heat there because you're NOT wanted with YOUR constant complaints and bickering of SQ?

Looks like its a BIG POT calling the kettle BLACK.

yes, I notice those announcements too.. doesn't really bother me that much, but I did find it strange that they say they won't announce flights, while you can still hear the announcements from outside... =P

Maybe CX should build some glass walls to enclose the wing?

I like The Pier better. Cozier.

Well, some of you guys probably need to change your hearing-aid batteries more frequently - from all the chatter here I expected to be greeted into a cloud-filled heaven by St. Peter himself the first time I rated an admission to the Wing, and all I found was a noisy, granite room in the loft of what feels a lot like a quonset-hut-style hangar and sounds like Grand Central Station in New York.

True, you can get a shower and the young lady will lend you an adapter for your laptop without demanding a body part as hostage. On the other hand, the people at the desk are so anxious to guard the frontier, I (as an infrequent guest, at least) have to show my boarding pass each time I come and go - everywhere else I can think of, they either recognize you when you come back in after a foray into the terminal, or at least pretend to. The Pier at least is quiet.

In my not-so-humble opinion, the good folks at Cathay - and they are good folks, when it comes to non-elite-lounge matters - could do with a trip down to Singapore to see how it's done at Silver Kris.

How about a Cabana? I thought that was peaceful.

GuyBetsy you surely get around...hope it you are having fun. Enjoy Cx for me I absolutely love CX.

Ever notice how their purple uniform jackets are the same as BA's?
