Okay. Here's another peeve.

The 15% Marco Polo Discount will only be applied if you have at least HK$1000 and above of inflight Duty Free goods.

Guy Betsy - is that really such a big deal. It sounds like a simple matter of maths to me. I always bought my HKD 500 worth of presents on the flight BECAUSE of the 15% discount. Now I'm simply going to shop at the airport. Now if I would get Asiamiles for onboard shopping ...

Okay maybe it's not a big deal.. but after buying the stuff today on CX 888 from HKG to YVR. I was more distraught to learn that even with the 15% off, the products still costs more than RETAIL at a local pharmacy in Vancouver. And that includes the tax!

Don't you ever learn? Duty-free, on or offboard, is generally more expensive than local country prices. The warning is to know your prices.

Refreshingly, FRA sells German spirits quite cheap.

oh no.. I use to buy cigarettes on board 'coz with the 15% off, it's way cheaper than buying it at the airport... oh well... =(

Actually for Duty Free cigs, they're the cheapest in KUL or SIN, at the airport.

I've seen British Made cigarettes like Silk Cut or Dunhill selling at about the equivalent of GBP 7 per carton at KUL whereas the same cartons sell at over GBP 20 at LHR's Duty Free!
