Just flew 888 through to JFK. First, they now have us deplaning on the Vancouver stop. Be warned. We got no announcement until five minutes out. It was really annoying as we were still in our pj's with work papers etc. scattered about. This lack of consideration was, unfortunately in keeping with the generally not up to Cathay standards of the flight to that point. Fortunately the crew into JFK was absolutely first rate, restoring our faith in CX. I hope to be posting a trip report comparing JAL, CX and AA service in the not too distant future.

Applying the deplaning logic, we understand that all CX flights to the U.S. will be stopping 100 miles offshore so that U.S. terror officials can make sure the plane is "sterile".

umm.. wouldn't you have felt the aircraft decreasing it's altitude? the fasten seat belt signs usually come on like 20 minutes prior to landing as well....

I think what he is saying is that the passengers were not informed that they would be required to deplane until that point.
