Cathay Pacific Asia Miles - TSA screening baggage question.... I think ANC will be axed again!

This is from yahoo.com (although it was specifically meant for AC, I think it will pertain to CX as CX has a 'stop' in ANC from HKG to YYZ): http://biz.yahoo.com/prnews/021231/mo256_1.html
What this effectively means is that all bags will be taken off at ANC from YYZ and screened before puttin gthem back on for the flight continuing onto HKG?
Now how stupid is that?

Also means unloading the luggage in ANC for the HKG-YYZ flight and hand-searching all of the baggage (smashing locks and zippers for any locked bags) before allowing the same plane to continue. Want to bet that YYZ-HKG will become YYZ-YVR-HGK? What a mess!

Let's hope that CX will consider the HKG-YYZ nonstop again!
I guess US just don't trust the foreign baggage screening procedure. As if their own system is any better. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/rolleyes.gif
Personally, I think it's a stupid waste of resources. There should be some exception to this new act, for example, exemptions for routes such as the discussed one.

Basically all flights operating through a US point will be affected - at least in my interpretation of the rules.
CX only has one flight which goes through ANC. Can you imagine someone else like Air Canada which has YVR/YYZ - HNL - SYD flights?
