Cathay Pacific Asia Miles - Old or New C on 888/889

My HKG-JFK-HKG 28/31 March 2003 shows 74J that is the old configuration I presume. Any chances that will be new by then (other than change of equipment of course).

I thought since CX only operates 4 74J's, they have not assigned any new code for 747's with new and larger biz class. So it would be too early to speculate whether it is old or not.

Besides, I thought NBC were being introduced to YVR flights, weren't they?

Flew this route twice in the last 2 months. Old configuration. Flight Attendance, and Cathay Desk in the US, told me -- separatly -- that they don't expect the new planes into JFK until late 2003.

Either way, the service of their flight attendance will make you forget the seat configuration... Excellent food - Outstanding Service.

Which brings us to a very interesting point then: why is CX waiting for long for the LONGEST ROUTE they serve to introduced the BEST SLEEPER seat they have?

Fewer seats in the new J configuration, I think.

Lower competition on this route,

they need the new planes on the European routes, like LHR, AMS, FRA, CDG

European routes have earn better revenue that North American ones.

According to one of the old threads posted here, all the 74Js will have the new sleeper seats by March, 2003. So there is a good chance that your flight will have the new J. I also think that CX is not likely going to change the code 74J... since the conversion is almost done by now. 50% of 74J will have the new sleeper seats as of now. But some CX flights to JFK may have the 74B... I am flying on one at 1/16... CX 888 to JFK...
