Cathay Pacific Asia Miles - Does CX Release Revenue F to Award Seats Closer to Departure?

Holding award seats in J on 12/31 LAX/HKG CX881. Trying to get F. Shows wide open but per AA (using Aadvantage miles) award space is full. Does CX ever dump all/some revenue F into award space? If so, how close to departure?

I recently hoped for the same on CX but no luck. Since Y was oversold, I think they upgraded everyone 24 hours prior.

Maybe if Y and J are wide open too you'll have better luck.

I've had pretty good luck with CX releasing some seats after having had none available.

A few months ago I saw first hand how seats did open up closer to travel dates...but it is risky/no guarantees.

If there are Asiamiles/Marco Polo members on the same flight and also wanting the award seats, they may be ahead of you as they are allowed to waitlist on awards. CX will of course clear them ahead of you first.

Bear in mind that available inventory on CX systems does not mean the same thing for other oneworld CRS'.
