Cathay Pacific Asia Miles - Date changes free on a paid "D" fare?

1. If I buy this biz-class fare, fly the
outbound as planned, but need to change
the return, any change fees assessed?
2. Also, if my inbound legs will be
Southeast Asia-USA, can I just show up at
the airport without a confirmed change in
advance, and just hope that standby
clears?
3. And if my miss my outbound altogether, is
a reschedule of the entire trip allowed,
assuming the "D" inventory is available?
Or will I just get a $ credit for the
unused ticket, and apply that credit to a
brand new itinerary at the new market
price.
Thanks in advance if you can share your experience\thoughts.

For #1, no change fees. I was on an I-fare, one level under D, and was able to change my return without a problem or charge.

I haven't seen myself any restrictions on C, D or I tickets regarding flight numbers, dates, be it outbound or inbound. Unless your ticket says otherwise, I do not think you need to pay any extra for changing dates and flights.
I would also think CX would take standby at the airport. (They even did for me twice at HKG when I was holding a U ticket, which is award.)
But these non-J business tickets I had were issued in Asia. So, not sure if that applies to yours, crankyusi.
I is very restrictive business and even that it doesn't have date change restrictions. I hope it will work all right for you.

Thank you Plato90s and Chiangi! Since you two say its doable, I'll give it a shot if I have to. Even if the standby doesn't clear, any place in Asia is great to stay an extra day. I've got a reservation, and just need to summon the courage to tell them my credit card#. Thanks again, and hope your travels are going well.

Welcome to Flyertalk, Turbojet.
You might want to try CX at their website or through any travel agency.

Anyone know if it possible to fly standby on a BA-issued award ticket on Cathay?
Hey Crankyusi :
Give your "CX" agent a call..she will clear
your WL for you . Almost a guarantee... (:
Just don't understand why you guys are dead
set on doing all the works yourselves...
they are there to sell you the tickets and
service your needs after the sale(s) !!

All award tickets must show confirmed for the dates of travel. CX has been rather picky at least for AA issued award tickets on them and insist that unless your ticket shows the actual confirmed date, they will not let you on. At least in HK.

I once had a standby at HKG on an AA award to NRT. CX took it even though my confirmed reservation was for the next day.
