Cathay Pacific Asia Miles - How to Obtain "good" fare HKG-TPE
I will be in HKG on business in November.
I have a round trip ticket JFK/HKG.
I must now do an overnight trip from HKG to TPE --- I am told there are "great fares" for this route --- I have found $500.USD for the round-trip on itn.
Should I be looking elsewhere?
Thanks.

On the CX Hong Kong web site, there are some special online fares. The fare to TPE is HK$2,450 (US $315). The site says the fare earns miles (500 each way) but I don't know if that also means AAdvantage miles or just AsiaMiles.
There's a two day minimum stay requirement.

If you have a refundable fare in J or F, you will likely get a cheaper fare by booking SFK-HKG-TPE-HKG-JFK with a stopover in HKG.

Most CX published economy class fares to TPE permit a stopover in HKG. Some are free. Others cost $150.

jefro - can you please tell us what your fare basis on your JFK-HKG is? Even if it is in coach, HKG and TPE are common-rated, which means from JFK both HKG and TPE are the same fare so in fact you can include a side-trip to TPE without any extra costs.
Alternatively ask CX for sidetrip options in additional to your ticket if you want to keep both of them seperate.
The CX website's fares guarantees mileage on Asiamiles only. Tickets are most likely booked in S, M or K classes.

Jefro;
Along the lines of what Guy Betsy is talking about, have you tried pricing the whole ticket as JFK-TPE via HKG?
I don't know what class you're traveling in, but, as an example, a CXleverage J-fare JFK-HKG-TPE-HKG-JFK is actually $2440 cheaper than a JFK-HKG-JFK ticket ($3095 vs. $5541.) In economy, priced on on CXleverage, JFK-HKG appears to be about the same as JFK-HKG-TPE-HKG-JFK-- about $900 or so.
You could always use an AA award on CX for the Hong Kong tO TPE portion only.

If you can wait until you get to HK do it there. Japan Asia (EG) and Thai have good fares for about HK$1,600 return, but not too much frequnecy (at least daily however). Or you could book something thru a local agency before you arrive perhaps. Try Time Travel or Sunflower travel. They should have websites. CX and CI have the highest fares, and discounts are hard to obtain over here.
How about getting from HKG to PEK:
Any suggestions on getting good fares? (all part of a leisure trip starting from LAX)
Also, does anyone have experience with the OneWorld Circle Pacific Fare?

Thanks!

Very limited pure OW service to PEK: AY from HEL and BA from LHR. Only way out is to return the same way or open jaw it to a OW Asian city. MU OW codeshares run PEK-PVG (QF)and LAX-PEK (AA) but nothing from HKG.
For OW Circle Pacific info try the oneworld forum (http://www.flyertalk.com/forumcgi/forumdisplay.cgi?action=topics&number=83) and FewMiles' site (http://members.shaw.ca/fewmiles/oneworld/).
