QF/Asiamiles:
Y do you only get miles for Y? What is the rationale behind this? I just tried to book a Y class fare on qantas.com.au - but the Y fares are horrendously higher than other booking classes.

No you get miles for all QF economy class fares. Except that they're only 50% for any booking class other than Y.
Basically it is between Asiamiles and QF. Nothing really to do with CX.
Look at AA. You get 70% for all miles on QF.
And compare that with IB. On AAdvantage, you get only 30%. But if credited to QF's FF, you get 100% mileage !

You are soooo right. My apologies, I was looking at a pre 2000 booklet with a printing mistake. Asiamiles has the correct info online.
Qantas Airways Y 100% and B/H/K/L/M/S only 50% 29 Oct 2000.
What would one do without flyertalk.
Cheers

Most of those low advertised fares are N or V class bookings, which means they are not eligible for miles. AND, the flights that I would actually take are on N or V classes because they are most cost effective. I don't know which route you have in your mind, and I don't know if you are willing to pay $$$ for eligible classes, but most QF domestic flights (except cross-continent) are pretty short haul, so I don't see the benefit of getting extra 500 miles by paying extra 100 dollars.
