Cathay Pacific Asia Miles - Business Class Fare

I need to go to HK in the early part of September. I got a quote for a CX business class fare from Columbus to HK for $3500 (business class travel only on the LAX-HKG-LAX segments). Do you think it is a good bargain?
I also got a quote for China Airlines business class from Columbus to HK for $2000 (business class travel only on the SFO-TPE-SFO segments). I know that this is a hell of the deal, but considering the poor safety record of CI, I don't think I want to risk my life with CI.

I'm in the same situation. The quotes I get from CX are much higher. Have you tried registering for the CXleverage? They may save you money.

I agree with you about CI.

Have you tried EVA Air and their Evergreen Deluxe class? It's something like World Traveller Plus on BA except it costs a lot less. Something that's about $100-$200 more than the usual apex fare. Check with AA for the codeshare and get AAdvantage miles when booking on an AA flight number , however, I think AA's codeshare flight costs almost 50% more than EVA's code.

If you want to fly Biz, try Malaysia Airlines. They have some great fares in Biz.

No, I didn't get the quote from CX. I got that from a Chinese travel agency refered me by someone on FF.
I remeber that someone on FF has said that it is cheaper just to get an Asia Pass online and pay the $1000 upgrade each way. The total would be under $3000 not including the domestic flights segments.

But you don't earn miles for flying on the All Asia Pass. That's the big drawback.
