There seems to be only 1 OneWorld lounge at LHR Terminal 3 which happens to be AA's. On Tuesday night I was locked in there "accidentally" while waiting for my flight to HKG. Needless to say, I almost missed my flight and the lounge attendant was very excited to tell me that I "will most certainly miss the flight".

On top of various shortcomings this lounge had only one internet terminal which belongs to the Stone Ages and no real food but they did have WARM drinks like beer and Coke. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/rolleyes.gif

So, which lounge would experienced CX travellers recommend to use when departing from LHR for HKG?

I guess you are talking about the business class lounge here. I have always found the AA Flagship (1st class) lounge to be acceptable. Not up to the standard of The Wing, clearly, but as a place to grab a glass of champers and some nibbles it is OK.

Correct!! As a mere AA Platinum and CX biz traveller on this occasion I merely had access to AA's biz lounge which almost resulted me being stuck in London overnight.

You could have used the BA lounge. It is located upstairs near the SQ lounge I think. There is a tiny duty-free before you get to the elevator that takes you upstairs. Not sure where in relation this is to the AA lounge because I haven't used it before.

CX used to have its own lounge until AA took over their ground handling and CX gave up its own lounge to use AA's lounge as well in LHR.

Personally I find the AA lounge in LHR not very welcoming.

I kinda like the reception area in AA's business class lounge but other than that, it is pretty poor! On busy days, it is like the terminal! except that instead of vending machines, you just take ur own drinks and snacks!

I have never tried BA's lounge but i dun think it is very hard to beat AA's lounge.

The BA biz lounge upstairs is also pretty crap. It is the old Qantas lounge. The FIRST lounge downstairs is only slightly better.
