hi,

am planning HKG-LHR (transit)-OSL (stopover)-ARN (stopover)-HEL (stopover)-FRA (transit)-HKG.

will be in economy class. intend to cash in miles for one class upgrade award.

mileage from HKG-ARN is 5983+722+254=6959 miles
mileage from ARN-HKG is 247+956+5686=6889

does this mean i can upgrade on all sectors under award zone D?

many thanks.

On Asiamiles, you will only be upgraded on CX sectors. It does not involve other oneworld carriers, even if there is BA involved as you cannot mix carriers when using an upgrade award. If you want to be upgraded on BA, then your reservation needs to be entirely on BA. FYI - on BA, you will be upgraded to Business Class. Not World Traveller Plus.

You will be using Zone D award.

You will still be credited with the miles for economy class travel toward Asiamiles.

You can also get a "oneworld award" to include ANY ONEWORLD segment instead. Check www.asiamiles.com. (http://www.asiamiles.com.)

GB,

i finally managed download the huge PDF (not easy on dial up) on the asia miles site to read the fine print and apparently, there is no restriction to CX for the upgrade awards. AY, IB, BA, QF sectors can be upgraded on the asiamiles award.

or have the rules changed again recently?

thanks for the info re Y-J/WT on BA - i was beginning to wonder...

Plus UPGRADE awards cannot be combined. Only ONE upgrade airline per ticket.
