It seems that CX is taking steps to make MPC status more valuable. For example on A340 sold as 2-class service the F cabin is reserved for MPC status members and the inflight service is treated as F (they even close the curtain to business class). Of course the food/beverage loaded is the same (business class), but otherwise it was F service (3 flight attendants). Even more interestingly is that they keep the seats empty (almost every seat was full in C in this flight, but F was 4 out of 8).
Even more impressive is that I was seated in the F cabin without asking, though I have no status on CX (my ticket is AONE5 and CX noticed that ... very impressive).
The flight attendant was very curious how I came to be seated up front (the other 3 were Diamond, and I had no status). We had a nice conversation about CX, which ended with a bit of a sales pitch about joining MPC and hints that it has a lot of unstated benefits with sufficient paid-F travel. I didn't press her on what those are, but getting the F cabin in 2-class is a tangible benefit. I wonder if they do track revenue by passenger and then offer extra benefits?
