Cathay Pacific Asia Miles - MPC benefits and excellent CX service

It seems that CX is taking steps to make MPC status more valuable. For example on A340 sold as 2-class service the F cabin is reserved for MPC status members and the inflight service is treated as F (they even close the curtain to business class). Of course the food/beverage loaded is the same (business class), but otherwise it was F service (3 flight attendants). Even more interestingly is that they keep the seats empty (almost every seat was full in C in this flight, but F was 4 out of 8).
Even more impressive is that I was seated in the F cabin without asking, though I have no status on CX (my ticket is AONE5 and CX noticed that ... very impressive).
The flight attendant was very curious how I came to be seated up front (the other 3 were Diamond, and I had no status). We had a nice conversation about CX, which ended with a bit of a sales pitch about joining MPC and hints that it has a lot of unstated benefits with sufficient paid-F travel. I didn't press her on what those are, but getting the F cabin in 2-class is a tangible benefit. I wonder if they do track revenue by passenger and then offer extra benefits?

It really has nothing to do with specific blocking of seats for MPC members but rather which reservations system you made your booking on.

For all CX bookings made on ABACUS in Asia, CX has stopped specific seat selection for al its flights in economy class, some Business and First Class seats. They would rather Marco Polo members call in and ask for the seats themselves... (and this is the computer era?)

For all other bookings made through other CRS , those F seats sold on 2 class service aircrafts are free for grabs.

There are only a few flights which CX has blocked off entire rows for MPC members or at least ONEworld Emerald members. ie namely the KUL-HKG routes.

My booking was done by AA RTW desk and I was originally assigned row 11 or 14 or something like that, but the boarding card came out as 2K at the airport. Something (computer or person) had adjusted my seat assignment. The flight was scheduled as A330 when ticketed but flown by an A340. In any case I find it interesting that the F seats were kept empty even when the C cabin was crowded; perhaps this is a new policy, as CX seems to be having more 3-class planes in rotation onto 2-class routes.
