*** duplicate post from oneworld forum ***

hi,

have been trying to book the particular pass from travel agents, including CX themselves, but to no avail!

CX keeps quoting my the oneworld explorer fare! what do i have to tell them to get them to book/quote the visit pass fare?

Are you in HKG? CX has visit America flyers on the shelf in their Kowloon/Peninsula hotel office. (I've spend too much time there!) You could pick one up and show it to the agent: this is what I want!

I've successfully booked visit Europe fares through AA directly. AA might let you book visit America passes too so long as you can show OW travel originating from outside NA.

unfortunately, am in SIN.

no one, including the CX res, knows what I want. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif

Try going to BA/AA/QF. They will have the info there. But seeing that there aren't really *ANY* oneworld airlines other than CX flying between US/Canada, it might be more worthwhile to issue a Visit USA pass with AA. You will need to provide proof of travel to North America on OneWorld airlines.

HOWEVER, you will be denied the Visit USA or OneWorld America pass if you hold a US/Canadian passport and is a resident of the said countries! Unless you are a nonresident and if you're based in Singapore, then you would need to show your residency in Singapore. Your OW/USA pass will be crossreferenced to the international ticket, and be prepared to show proof of international residency at check-in if demanded.

From Fewmiles.net:

FOR NAPASS TYPE FARES
VALID FOR VISIT ANOTHER COUNTRY ADULT PASSENGER MUST BE A NON RESIDENT OF THE SECTOR THE UNITED STATES AND TRAVEL IS LIMITED TO THE SECTOR NORTH AMERICA/INTL. POINTS IN THE CARIBBEAN AREA.
TICKETS MUST BE PURCHASED AND ISSUED BEFORE ARRIVAL IN NORTH AMERICA/INTL. POINTS IN THE CARIBBEAN AREA. ONLY ONE TICKET PERMITTED FOR EACH TRIP ORIGINATING OUTSIDE AREA OF TRAVEL

As a practical matter, all that is required is to buy the ticket outside of NA and have another ticket starting outside the U.S. to reference it to.

YES - the only way the airline can be sure is to ask that you show your passport.

In HKG and SIN for example, AA will ask to see your travel document. Once you whip out your US passport, they won't issue it to you!

thanks for all the helpful answers.

will try BA/QF instead. was hoping that CX will be able to issue all the tickets to minimise hassle.

thanks once again,

epigram - Just go to the BA/QF/AA office. All 3 share the same office space at Cairnhill Plaza (I think. Call directory assistance for info).

They have a pamphlet flyer there and they know what they are talking about. Otherwise ask to see the AA rep there. She's excellent!
