From previous posts ther are many times one of the first passengers mat be offered to get into the cockpit and see the landing...
(pre 9-11).
Do anyone knows is that still permitted or the pilots still that kind?
Will talk to the FA helps?
Even with a sweetest smile on your face, you won't stand a chance (I was specifically told it's been banned), unless you have a powerful contact in CX who can pre-arrange such visit on your behalf. OR, if you are member of media and formally apply for a cockpit visit. Another option might be that your father is the pilot of a particular flight...
the good old days are gone.

I wonder if anyone got a cockpit visit
during take off or landing at the old
HK Kai Tak Airport at night?

I had a cockpit visit at landing at Kai Tak on an Air India 747-200 in Dec 1982. As a kid that was a thrill.
I have been asking regularly for visits to the cockpit over the past year on CX, BA, SQ and TG. TG crew flat out refused, SQ said only if arranged beforehand with a letter from ground handling, CX and BA said its at the Captain's discretion. I've only had luck on BA (landing into BKK on BA10, BKK-SYD), but I was on CX 101 (HKG-SYD, A330 service) in October when a chinese lady sat in on landing into Sydney.

Hey Captain! I had the honour of riding jumpseat on CX883 from LAX into the old Kai Tak, at night, in May 1998. What a dream come true!
CX used to be great about letting passengers visit the cockpit.

What if you ask in advance, submit yourself to a background check, body search, and agree to be handcuffed, shackled, and seatbelted in with a padlock? I'd add blindfolded too, but that might destroy the value.

Everytime when the flight I flown approaching HK, I just feel emotionally desirable (not excited, not happy, just touching), I think if I am landing HKG in the cockpit, I may tears!
Oh... maybe I should drop architecture and be a pliot! ( http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif )

I was fortunate enough to be in the cockpit on one of the last flight into Kai Tak on the night of 5th July 1998 (the last day of operations at KT). They also used a rather unusual approach (for night operations at least) which brought the aircraft over the south of Lamma Island and then a continuous visual right hand turn over Stonecutters Island/ north Kowloon/ Chequerboard/ rwy 13, it was most dramatic! Apparantly they only allow this approach for day flights but since it was the last day, they decided to let the pilots have some fun!
All the flashlights from the cameras near the airport was fascinating as well!

Ah yes... the infamous VOR 13 approach... twice the turn of the IGS approach, and 10 times more fun!

Since this topic has gone off-topic: last time out of HKG (to LHR) we must have spent 20 minutes low and slow before heading for serious altitudes. It was a beautiful night (midnight departure) and the tour of all the coastal lights was very interesting. I suppose there was congestion above us somewhere, but does this happen often?
I was able to sit in the cockpit on CX 710 into CLK back in October of 1999. I still have very fond memories of that flight. The First Officer had the landing, and the Captain was playing tour guide, "there's Hong Kong island..."
