Hello my fellow flyers,

For those who are thinking of buying CX tickets in Sydney, here are some advise. couple of weeks ago, I asked about the CX consolidator in Sydney, and www.travel.com.au (http://www.travel.com.au) was one agent that was suggested. Well, at first I thought this was quite a reliable company from the amount of information available on their web page, and I thought the prices were really low. I was badly mistaken.

I was going to book a flight to HKG from their website, but I wanted to clarify the fare rules that was available so I decided to write them a email. As my question was very simple, I decided to send a email to their online-booking division. This email was sent on April 2nd. I waited for couple of days, but received no reply, and I was getting frustrated. So, I decided to send another email specifically to their leisure travel manager on April 5th, asking for prompt reply. Well, today is the 10th and I still have not heard a single word from www.travel.com.au. (http://www.travel.com.au.) I am amazed at the level of customer service provided.

Since I had to finilize my travel plan, I found an agent called "China Travel Services" (based in NZ, Melborne, and Sydney) and decided to buy my tickets there. What an added bonus, their fares are even lower for same ticket!!!

Although price isn't the critical issue for me, I am terribly disappointed with this web based agent. So, if there are any other flyers who need to buy CX tickets in Sydney, that was my little humble advise.

fakecd: I know a travel agent (which I believe speaks Cantonese) in SYD. If you need the contact info, send me an email and i'll let you know. They might be able to help you out. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Btw, I've dealt with travel.com.au before and response was always quick.

I also contacted travel.com.au last year about a CX ticket they had on their web site. I had to wait for a few days for a reply, which, on top of that, was not complete. Needless to say, I was never tempted to do any business with this company.

Empress,

Thanks for the offer, and if you could email me their details and OR the specific agent you've dealt with, I would like to keep it for my future reference. In fact, whether they speak Cantonese or not isn't the biggest issue, as I've lived in the West for nearly 7 years.

In general from my past experience, Chinese agents are mostly very curt, but I appreciate the speed and accuracy of information. When I called the CTS, the lady treated me as if I knew nothing, but yet she answered all my questions correctly. I can get this ticket "K" class from SYD-HKG for $1060+128 tax in the low season, I hope this is the market price around here...
