Cathay Pacific Asia Miles - CX Award
I am trying to redeem a business class award seat on CX Vancouver/JFK on 8/15/02. AA is booking the flight since it is using there miles. I am an AA EXP/OW Emerald. The flight is WIDE open but CX has not opened any business class award seats. AA has contacted there CX liasion but can't seem to do anything to get the seat cleared. Any ideas?

This EXP here is having problems booking CX using AA miles in business or first from HKG to anywhere in India/Europe/MiddleEast for April and May.

This is why I think that Asiamiles/MPC is one ahead of AAdvantage.
Only for Asiamiles/MPC members, you're allowed to waitlist on CX award flights and will clear according to your status.
AAdvantage and other OneWorld programme's members have to just keep checking back and hope that the award inventory opens up.

I don't think I can get status at MPC but say if I am an Asiamiles member and AA EXP, using AA miles for award, can I still waitlist?

No, if you are going to get a redemption ticket from AA.
You can be waitlisted so long as you use AsiaMiles points for redemption. Asia
