i am now in transfer at TPE...was just a bit disappointed about CX's service at TPE...

i am traveling from US to HKG, transferring from a non-OW airline to CX at TPE...once i got off at TPE i naturally went direct to the CX transfer desk, but found no one there...with a note saying something like, "temporarily away, call xxxx for assistance"...

there's a CI agent right next to the CX desk, and she told me the CX agent just went away a few minutes ago, i should call that number and let them know i was there...sure i did...i called that number a few times, no one ever picked up the phone, and the line was automatically cut off after a minute or so of waiting, with a message like "all the agents are busy, please call back later"...ok, after maybe 5 calls, finally someone did pick up the phone...and said this was a shortage of manpower at the airport and he will get someone come up to the transfer desk as soon as possible...but then i waited for another 10-15 minutes, i still couldn't find anyone...i called again and again...of course, no one picked up the phone...

i was kind of mad and didn't want to spend any more time waiting, and so i just went thru the immigration and went to the CX check-in desks landside...luckily i do have a taiwan visa...F class check-in not open, and the J line, manned by only one counter/agent, was a bit of a wait...the lady told me the transfer desk is only manned until 9 pm daily...if it's true that the agent must have left work early, because i arrived at the desk like 8:45 pm, if not 8:30 pm...and the agent said, i should have just gone to the gate directly...but now i think about it, without a boarding pass, would the security people let me thru ?

then i needed to went thru immigration again...TPE immigration in general is not fun, quite some wait...so the whole thing including the wait at the transfer desk took me maybe an hour...

and, originally i have the TPE airport tax added on the HKG-TPE-HKG ticket already...could i have asked my agent not to charge it at first since i know i will be transferring anyway ? in my original case, if i really got everything done at the transfer desk, can i ask CX to have that tax refunded to me ? of course, now it's irrelevant coz i did went thru immigration...

i am now at the CX lounge typing this...the fact that the F lounge is closed is still ok with me...i understand there is no F service on this flight and there might not be too many Emerald's on this flight...but still, another small disappointment...

is it a reasonable expectation that they should have someone at the transfer desk at least say until 30 minutes before the scheduled departure of the last flight ?
