Since I am waiting for the result for the summer internship, I may need to book my flight departing to HKG mid-may (in case no employer) and returning to DTW early Sept only after 10/April or so.
By that time AA's published fare will be rocket high and now it use "S" class for conlidator fare so no miles http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif
Can anyone share the info for travel agent speicalize in ->HKG routes or CX? I saw a list of CX consilidator fare on the web for about $1200. is that about right or too expensive? Will consilidator's ticket get miles? (I am Canadian AAdv member)
With the routings to NA, which route(s) tend to be easiler to oversold? espeically for the end of summer?
Thanks!

If you're an AAdvanatge Canadian member, you'll get miles even for "S" class.
You want a consolidator in HKG or Canada? Every travel agency in HKG is a consolidator for CX. But if you wanta better deal, it mightbe worth your while to take a oneway trip to BKK and travel from there home. Again, any travel agency will be able to offer you great deals on CX.

Actually I will departing from DTW (see my user-id http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif ). The agent who booked my sister's AA flight quoted me CX K fare for $1040+tax and H fare for 1110+tax, add $25 per segment if weekend.(the agent said the fare just available today)
I checked with ITN and priced my trip it is about $1150 including tax in H fare with return on sunday (it never this cheap)!!!
She do give my sister good or OK price on AA, but I think her CX fare is questionable.
I thought about price a ticket DTW-BKK or DTW-SIN on cx and do a "stayover"(for 3.5months) in HKG to get miles or so, but from H fare listed by ITN, CX charge $150 for stopover. Ouch!
I heard ex-Bkk will be an advantage from you before, but do you think I can get a way to take this advantage by say get a OW DTW-BKK and R/T open-return BKK-DTW (and save the return leg for say christmas)?
Any help or advice will be appericated!!
P.S. Thanks a lot GB, btw is that true that S fare is non-upgradable even with VIPOW or miles?

S (now you are talking about AA, right) is upgradable with VIPOW but not with miles as far as ex-BKK AA tickets are concerned.
CX is also selling this S fare out of BKK and SIN as well. They are very cheap.
While AA tickets are valid for one year and date changeable, CX S fares are valid for four months, I think, to North America. (Six months for Europe, two for Australia and three for New Zealand.)

HK-UMICH, if that is what your sister thinks is the best fare, then go for it. Normally even ethnic agencies these days, cannot go that much lower. Ask your sis for the name of the agency and if it sounds' EAST ', then it's fine.

1. My sister decided to go for it, even not upgradable, $985/person AZO-HKG with AA. Summer PEAK season travel.
2. GB/other, after your valuable advice, I am thinking of a strange idea but it better post in the Oneworld section. Would you mind give some comment and do you think that is economical milewise/pricewise.
Thanks!
