I'm planning on taking a trip from PDX (through SFO/YVR) to BKK in January. What airline/class of service would you choose: Cathay Economy or EVA Air Evergreen Deluxe? The price difference is about $180USD more for EVA ED. Bottom line: would it be worth the extra $? Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Well, CX economy will always be economy, and EVA Evergreen deluxe class is definitely a step better than any economy class.
Legroom:
CX 32inches
BR ED class 38inches
Meal:
CX slightly better
BR mostly Asian-oriented cuisine
Amenity Kit:
Both had an a/kit
Entertainment:
Both got a PTV, but CX slightly better selection
Connection:
TPE's new terminal is pretty nice. Easier connection due to smaller terminal...
IN this case, I think the $180 is well worth it for the extra legroom and comfort.

Most importantly, on CX you can accrue and use miles in a variety of FF programs whereas on BR, you can only earn and burn miles on their Evergreen Club program.

On Eva you can earn mileage for your Continental OnePass account. I traveled LAX-DPS on Eva earlier this year and earned 18,000+ CO miles. Only hitch was I ended up having to send in copies of tickets and boarding passes, but mileage was credited to CO after this "proof" was submitted.
I highly recommend Eva's Deluxe Economy, it's well worth the $200 or so that it costs for the added room and 2-4-2 seating on Eva's 747s. For more info., checkout BR reviews on epinions.com and the Eva board at this website.

The ED-seats are also wider than CX economy, and has a double-width armrest so you don't have to fight with your neighbor for armrest space.
You can book EVA flights under the AA codeshare, and AA can book people into the ED class.
