Star Alliance - how many pieces of hand luggage ?

I will fly in April 04 to Taipei on a Lufthansa Award Flight in Business Class and I will be probably LH FTL (Star Silver) at this time.
I want to carry two pieces of hand luggage and one piece of checked baggage (which will be about 25 – 30 kgs). I see some problems, because the rules of LH FTL M&M does not apply on flights of other Star Alliance Partners. I think I will have no problems of my planed route via Seoul with LH and the following part with TG to Taipei (first segment LH = two pieces of hand luggage allowed), but on the way back (first segment Thai = Thai rules = one piece). Is the a chance, that the Thai staff an CKS will handle this without paying for extra luggage?
Should I try to get a routing via Narita with United for the flight CKS – NRT? But I think, the rules are also only one piece of hand luggage.

On top of the airline rules, you may also have problems getting through the security check with more, no matter what your airline permits. You should also check the weight limits for carry on. Some airports and airlines will weigh it no matter the size, and others will be more flexible.

I second the point about the Airports. I could not get through CDG security with two pieces of luggage: my rollerboard and my admitted large laptop bag. One Carryon only according to them. maddening...

First many thanks to your response; I did not think about this, because it was up to now not really a point. But after recognizing the flights I have had in C with more than one piece of hand luggage, the flight was always Intra Europe.
But beside this, I can concrete my question a little bit, I am flying Düsseldorf-(Lufthansa)-Frankfurt-(All Nippon Airways)-Tokio-(United)-Taipeh, and Taipeh-(Thai)-Bangkok-(Thai)-München-(Lufthansa)-Düsseldorf.
Beside the fact of the security and weight risks, does anybody know how strict the airlines are?

I usually travel with two carry on. One is a normal size carry on with wheels and the second is a bag with about the same footprint as the other, but only about 30 cm high. Lots of flights with different airlines. Usually no problem, except Hong Kong (very strict, you need to get a sticker from the airline for the second bag - which they typically provide without problems for C and F passengers) and Bristish Airways on several occasions (they insisted checking the bigger one without charge at the gate).
I had several flights on TG with two carry on bags and sometimes even two big bags of duty free - never a problem there.
I would not expect that you will have any problems. Worst case they will check one of your carry ons at no charge.
Also with the C ticket you have 30 kg, and for C and F they typically allow up to 10 extra kg without any questions and charges.
So relax.

They were strict at CDG about having only one bag. I told them that I had chocolates in the one bag (it was true that I was bring back chocolate candies for gifts) and they said it was OK.
My second bag was small that had the chocolate in it. You could also say you have fragile/valuable things in your hand luggage & wish to carry it on.
I asked nicely & told them the chocolates was for a lady. (my sister was the intended recipient).
