Some fares will increase 1st May 02. Old fares versus new fares () in brackets. The most noticeable places that are going up are Canada, Namibia and South Africa.

IN Canadian $
RWSTAR 1.............RWSTAR 2.......... RW3
F 10159(10669)...11689(12269)....13719(14339)
J 7459( 7599)....8579( 8739)....10069(10259)
Y 4089( 4149)....4709( 4769).....5519( 5599)

In S. African Rand (same for Namibia)
RWSTAR 1.............RWSTAR 2.......... RW3
F 34500(37950)...39680(43650)....46580(51240)
J 24570(27030)...28260(31090)....33170(36500)
Y 13110(14420)...15070(16580)....17690(19460)
(Fares didn't rise as drastically as OneWorld Explorer fares did!)

New rules: For old fares to apply, ticket must be issued by 30Apr02 and 1st international sector must be dated for travel prior or on 30Apr02.

In other words, if you have a departure date of 2 May 02, and even if you issue the ticket today, the NEW fares apply.

FYI - tickets cannot be issued at the South African fare in USA. Except of course from South Africa or -CANADA- !

Guy Betsy,

Thanks for posting the new prices. I have a couple of follow-on questions:

1.) For those who purchased and ticketed a few months ago, but have their first Int'l segment after 1 May 2002, will the higher fares be applicable? And how might those be collected considering they've already been paid for?

2.) I'm confused re: your last statement. Can one purchase RTW's at the ZAR price in Canada? Would you start your trip in Canada?

ANSWERS:
1) ... NO. As long as the tickets were issued BEFORE the memo which was dated something like 15APRIL02.

2)No. You issue the tickets in Canada at the ex-South Africa rate, and starting from the currency country's origin. This 'rule' pertains most other RTW fares too.
